rick has told me in the past that my AZ has trouble with the higher bit rates. What is the cause? I am really beginning to notice this on the GDMX Muxes on C band. When it does decode it says something like 62% maybe if I even had the the most wonderful pointing for my 7 1/2 dish would that be enough?

Are there any solutions,,short of buying a new box or Card?

Woiuld a PLL LNB have less phase noise?

Think most of the issues are with recording high bitrate feeds, they usually play just fine.
Though I have scheduled recording on the gdmx sid3 I think, it plays back perfectly every time. I have not had issues on that satellite other than recording the CBS feeds at 4040MHz.
I use a 10' dish. Some of these feeds have a very high FEC, like 9/10, where your s/n has to be really good in order to receive them. Some of these TPs will not be receivable with a 7.5' dish with perfect reception, too many errors creep in and mess up the data/picture. PLL LNBs might help a bit but but it may not be enough, and you can likely find a bigger dish for less $$, of course I am not taking into acount the work of setting it up etc... [smile] Best cure is more square feet of reflector.

Actually PLL units might have more phase noise due to circuitry design, but stability makes up for that in most cases. Really low bitrate transponders often require more stability, where the PLL LNBs really shine.

I have two AzBox Ultras, I have not come upon a newer receiver that can replace them with so far.

YES I thought the PLL units may have more phase noise. I have tried to do Digital Radio Mondiale or DRM (on Short wave or HF radio) which also requires a stable IF (either 455 or 10.7). The ICOM R70 doesn't have the most stable IF at 455. But I can sometimes get a lock.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
