any suggestions on how to get this receiver to lock a signal on AMC 18?  I can put a Vantage receiver in place and get a 90% S and Q then take it out and put in the Coolsat without changing any of the dish positions and it does not give any quality signal only Signal of 90%.  I've gone thru the dish settings over and over to make sure that the disq is set at 1 and correct trans and freq are set modulatin @ DVBS2 etc.  Tried hard rebooting the receiver.  Just about ready to give up on it.

Try deleting and then re-enter the tp freq.

If you have the frequency I can try it with my CS 8000.   I don't program any transponder info into the Coolsat, just enter the info in manually into the manual satellite scan menu. For S2 all the info has to be entered in manually including pilot and code rate. If you don't know what those are then you have to manually cycle through all options until you get a quality reading. Pause for a sec between each change. Biggest issue with the coolsats is being limited to 32 satellites.

What firmware version are you using?  I thought that the 32 satellite limit ended with the latest couple of firmware versions, or maybe I had it backwards and that's when it started....  It's been a while since I used my 8100.   I think the latest version is something like 2025 or something.

It says 1.44.0A I've never changed the firmware on it.  Just asked the guy I bought it from on ebay to put something non-pirate on it before he shipped it out. It's been working OK and I don't know what other firmware is like, so I didn't mess with it.

Yeah, that version is definately before they changed the channel stuff.  You're probably just as well off with the 1440.  The main reason I upgraded was because mine was freezing and rebooting.  My first 8100 didn't have that problem, but it was fried by a lightning strike, so I bought another one, and it was freezing and rebooting right out of the box.  I tried suplimenting the fan in it, and that helped a bit.  Then I upgraded the firmware and that helped a bit too.  It was nice to get more than the 32 sats, but they broke something that I can't remember.  Something about not being able to define new sats, and/or if you rename sats you don't need, you can't get them in order or something weird like that.
It's a nice receiver though. Quite sensitive.  But no channel editor, and you couldn't specify AC3 or H264 for manual channels.

I'm probably not running a fact. bin.  it is the 2.02.5A.  thanks for the feedback guys but I've not been able to delete the sat and/or transpnder so I'm back to square one.  I had this problem with this receiver when I first got it.  got tired of it not getting S2 feeds so I got the vantage.  Vantage works great on the same s2 feeds so I thought I'd give the coolie another shot but it is lame as ever, though all I hear is good things about it .... I have not seen it.

@ bluzee I'm trying to get the CBand feeds on AMC 18 NBC and TM.

NBC @ 3780 H 30000 5/6 DVB-S2 8PSK

TM @ 3940 H 30000 H 30000 5/6 DVB-S2 8PSk

also the V trans. don't come in either.

@ shameon   I did find a way to delete the trans freq.   I did so, then fact. reset, then reprogrammed the transponder... still no dice.

Instead of 5/6 try 3/4 and set pilot on.

@ bluzee - do you use any sorting or channel editor on your coolsat?

@ bluzee - could you possibly post or pm me the 1.44 file you are running.  I'd like to see if it handles channel sorting duties any differently than the 2.02.5A.

Sorry, I don't have any firmware files for the coolsat. The 1.44 version was the one loaded when I got the receiver. I'm not sure where you can find firmware files for these receivers now. I also don't have any channel editor software. I'm not sure if any ever existed for these receivers.

For sorting in this firmware  you can sort by transponder, network, sid, or cas. Transponder is about the only one that is useful.  Any time you do a scan you have to re-sort. First pick one of the other sort options like network and do that one, then go back and do a sort by transponder.  In the OSD channel list you can push the blue button on the remote and it''ll sort a-z.

If you do a sort by transponder and it seems to run a little too fast and doesn't do anything the receiver needs a hard reset by flipping the power switch on the back.

I thought that you could pull the file right off your receiver with the upload feature; not positive but I think so. if you had a usb stick it would be pretty painless.

I too find the channel sorting useless.  especially hate the way it will give the same sid channel number to multiple channels on different transp. or satellites and you wind up with a bunch of channels with the same number.

Anyway I really do appreciate you getting me going on the Coolsat.  From what you're telling me, they look to function the same way.
