Are they any thing new going on with the Wetek? I have the Wetek play and don't see a lot of post on it anymore.

Hi,

Their marketing strategy changed and they decided they wanted to pretty much just sell directly to consumers and by-pass dealers like me.  Since that, I have not kept up with them.

Others here may know more and post some info.

Thanks,

Rick

There is no more Android updates as the hardware is almost 3 years old.  What's nice about the Wetek Play is that you can run images from the MicroSD card and there are current updates for OpenElec and LibreElec.   I have mainly used OpenElec since it has been available and LibreElec more recently.  Both offer the latest versions of Kodi which run much better and faster than Kodi in the Android environment.

Loading images on a MicroSD card is very quick and easy to do.  Just make sure you have updated to the latest Android image as it includes the dual boot option, which makes going between Android on the Nand and other images on the MicroSD card a snap.

Rick,
Sorry it took me so long to get back.  Been on vacation.  I hate to hear that.  I got this one of mine from you.  It still plays great.  Maybe something new is around the corner.  Any new boxes out there that is worth looking into?

Thanks for the forum here and letting all of us use it free.
All the help is greatly appreciated.

EmilNJ,

Thanks for the information.  I do use the micro SD card and use the boot options.  It is a good box but the remote design is not so very good.  I use my tablet and a app to control it.  I still love my azbox the best.

Also I want to thank you for all the help you have gave me and all the great info you put out on the form.  Without it I would of had no clue how to use these boxes.

Hi,

We should have the new Octagon 4K receiver hopefully soon.  The company in Germany already has my order and are supposed to ship them as soon as they come in.  Was first told they would be in and ready to ship in the middle of June and then they told me that hopefully they would ship last week or this week, but still nothing yet.

Hockeynut and Sideswiper and some others here already have one and they have done a lot of testing and so far results have been good.  I will add them to my site once I finally get them.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,
I don't know how to add your reply to this post like everyone does.  Wish I did.

Thanks for the information on the new Octagon 4K receiver.  I will check them out.  I like the 4k but the regular 1080 hd is fantastic to what we had to watch years back.  I was raised on black and white.  I remember daddy coming home with a film lay over that went over the screen that had a tint on blue at the top and green at the bottom and we thought we were in high cotton.  Color TV.  I was a teenager before we got a color TV.

Have a great day and thanks again.

click on the little pencil, right next to the post number. But try to use it sparingly.
It is most useful when you wish to reply to a post that was earlier on in the conversation, and the few
posts directly above aren't necessarily what you wanted to comment about. It happens when some threads get sideways, discussion wise.
It is generally not necessary to "Reply With Quote" to the post directly above every time you post.
Tends to keep the threads cleaner and easier to read for others...

Guys,

I am trying to put the wetek play software back on my box but can't figure it out.  I can get OpenELEC and OpenLIBRE nand to install and boot up but cant get the wetek back on nand.  Anyone have a original nand install?

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
