I have CS7000 with USB. Best receiver for dish orientation. But I use S9 for its DVB-S2.

Hey Thor, I don't have a CS 8100. I use an azbox ultra and my computer.

Are you looking to buy a new receiver?

I use a CS8100 HD too; I watched with it the Met Opera and record them, the last one yesterday ( La Traviata).

yes HNut I understand it is not new or top of the line receiver.  I just wanted to have an idea of how many there were out there in use.  The CS is new to me right now so I am enjoying it for the moment.  A guy has to have something to upgrade to.. and that will be in the future probably with a newer version of the  AZB.

@midwestmac - thanks for your reply but no I'm not in the market for a new box right now.  I'm just looking to hear from CS owners.

I'm running an 8100 as well.   It's ok at best but I wish it was a little better.   When I have the extra cash for a better S2/HD receiver I'll take the 8100 out of service.

Almost a 4 year old topic, but still topical.  I don't use my 8100 much anymore, but as Hockynut said, it does have a great tuner, and it does record, which my Azbox doesn't do, at least not on the high bitrate stuff I'd like to record.  I switched to the Azbox because of CBS 4.2.2, and I do most recording now on the computer.  My main complaint with the 8100 was that it would overheat, and reboot randomly.  I had two of them.  The first didn't do this, but the 2nd one (first one got zapped by lightning) did, so I guess it's a quality control issue.

They have this little fan that is about the size of a quarter, and I think the fan on my 2nd one failed.  I replaced it with the fan from my zapped 1st one.  That helped a bit.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
