This is an OTA CW station that for some reason has disappeared.  I don't watch it a lot, but when I looked for it after my last channel scan in WinTV, I noticed it wasn't there.  Upon trying another computer with another card that had the channel in it's database, I got NO SIGNAL on the channel.

I know Hockeynut gets this channel, but was wondering if anyone in the Greensboro/Triad area has lost signal.  It was extremely strong for me, even in Charlotte, so other parts of NC, SC , VA might also get it.

The website looks a little cheesy also..not like most stations website.  Not much info, just a bunch of pictures..

I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it, but the last time I received this one was on July 31.  It was always a solid regular here, just north of Raleigh.

However, I'm getting WUNM Jacksonville, also on RF 19, on a regular basis now.  Wonder if they raised their power, or if WCWG cut theirs?

After reading this, I looked over on the AVS Forum in the Greensboro Market sub-forum, and found this:

No. They ceased transmitting at 3am July 31 and at the same time, the additional streams were lit up on WXII. For those who get both stations, they had two 20-1s, one 20-2 and one 20-3 and two 20-4's with one set of -1s and 4's working and one set not and 20-2 and 20-3 dark. A rescan would take the unused 20's out. The receivers seem to be completely happy with that, but it has been a little confusing to the humans involved though! I have taken several calls from befuddled viewers thinking I could magically "fix" another stations "problems".

Hope this helps?

If I don't answer right away, give me a few, I'm probably chasing 16Apsk and/or 32Apsk

Ha!  My last (auto-logged) reception of WCWG is timestamped 31-July-17 02:57:15.  So there you go.

And indeed, those additional streams are listed in the market listing for WXXI at rabbitears.info.  Can't cross-check because the signal isn't coming in right now.

Thanks Voomvoom!

Thanks for all the info guys...it's just strange that there is no explanation as to their demise.  I had read that they were the 15th most watched CW in the US as well as having 3 other subchannels.  I saw something in the Winston Salem News about WXII showing their news broadcast on WCWG, but nothing else.

WXII's signal is a little bit out of my range and they are around a .7MW station, so to get them the weather has to be optimal.

I just can't remember seeing, in this area anyways, a large market TV station just fold out of the blue.

Found this on Wikipedia:

In the FCC's incentive auction, WCWG sold its spectrum for $105,731,122 and indicated that it would enter into a post-auction channel sharing agreement.[10] WCWG subsequently reached a channel sharing agreement with WXII-TV (channel 12); the station also entered into a separate shared services agreement allowing WXII's owner, Hearst Television, to provide additional services to WCWG.[11] A full acquisition by Hearst is not currently possible, as the creation of a new duopoly would result in only seven different owners of full-power stations in the Triad market.

With the spectrum move, WCWG dropped Escape and Laff from their channel lineup on July 31, 2017.[12]
