I'm seeing a new mux on Galaxy 13.
3860 H 29000
I am unable to lock it.
The constellation appears to be 8psk.
SR determined by shortwave radio method.

Very strong signal here but no lock. FEC indicates 3/5. Possibly NS3 modulation.

I don't think it is NS3.  It doesn't act like the Televisa NS3 signal on AMC 9.
The constellation on that one is just a big round blob and the S/N stays at 0.0 db and BER at 1.0000.

Perhaps the signal on Galaxy 13 needs the PLS Code set?

I've been using Crazyscan and Search PLS code on this signal.
I left it running while I was out yesterday.
When I came back, it had locked on a signal.

3860 H 29000
DVB-S2 16APSK
8/9 FEC
Transport Stream - CCM

The PLS code stopped at Root 101593.

However, I could not see anything there.
Thinking I had lost lock, I tried to lock it again using PLS code Root 101593, but I could not lock it again.

I guess there are some muxes in Europe that require PLS codes to lock.  This is the first one I've seen over here.

Strangely, the constellation when I try to lock it with the standard Root  1 shows 8psk, but when it locked it said 16APSK.

Anyone else have experience using Crazyscan and Search PLS code?

ill help bruteforce.
there are 262143 possibilities.
my current speed is about 100/minute

we should take increments of 8 hours.  it will take almost 2 days to brute each scramble code, but if we work together it can be done much faster.

Root
1. 0-47999
2. 48000-95999
3. 96000-143999
4. 144000-191999
5. 192000-239999
6. 240000-262143

Gold
1. 0-47999
2. 48000-95999
3. 96000-143999
4. 144000-191999
5. 192000-239999
6. 240000-262143

Combo
1. 0-47999
2. 48000-95999
3. 96000-143999
4. 144000-191999
5. 192000-239999
6. 240000-262143

black - open
green - in progress
red - failed

anyone else want to help please specify what range and scramble code and i will update this original post.

How are you getting 100/minute?
I'm only getting 30/minute using Crazyscan and TBS 5925.

I tried it on my TBS 6522 and I get 45/minute.
But the TBS 6522 won't lock all ACM/VCM signals, so it might miss something if I use it.

i am right at the snr threshold for 16apsk 8/9, but i figured i would try searching anyway.

how do you know its acm/vcm?..if its acm/vcm we are kinda screwed anyway, right?

my rate did drop a little bit down to 85/minute, but i just realized i have two tuners, so ill get the other one going tonight if i can find a multiswitch.

sure hope more people jump in to help.  we might be wasting our time, but there is only one way to find out.

You know if it was space aliens you guys were looking for I could get interested. As it is I have a large garden to plant and if it turns out to be space aliens signals you guys have found they will be hungry when they get here and I would rather they pick through my garden rather than pick through my bones.

I don't think it is ACM/VCM.  When I got that lock a few days ago, it was CCM Transport Stream.

What is the snr threshold for 16APSK 8/9 FEC?

I've got 16.8 dB at this time.

Well, you can search for space aliens signals and plant the garden at the same time.
I'm searching for PLS codes while planting my tomato seedlings in the garden.

@photoman76
what code and range are you searching?  i would like to the original post so others do not search the same range.

http://www.satbroadcasts.com/news,81,Minimum_carrier_to_noise_ratio_values_CNR,_CN_for_DVB_S2_system.html

i am not convinced that its 16apsk.  as you noted above the constellation defn appears to be 8psk.

what does your CS window look like while searching for the PLS?  mine just sits at -10dB.  almost wondering if i am doing something wrong.

Mine looks similar to yours.
-10.0 dB never changes.
My BER does change all the time though.

I've searched ROOT from 1 to 148338 so far.
The lock that I got a few days ago was ROOT 101593.
But I can't lock it now.
