Is there a E2 for Dummies guide out there anywhere?
Specifically, I'd like to try it on my Ultra with the C-band blind scan version that Emil spoke about in a earlier thread.

Does this get rid of the "sluggish" feeling that the Az has?

Thanks,

I tried it on a Premium Plus for someone and it had issues with playing back some HD channels like the CBS and ABC Fronthauls among others.  It would pixelate after about a minute and the picture will not be smooth.  Basically unwatchable. Channel change was definitely smoother and faster.  Blind scan on the Premium Plus was excruciatingly slow and even after 20 minutes of waiting it seemed to never ever find a transponder.  Needless to say I never let it finish.

Being that the Ultra is of the same family it may or may not have the same issues with HD channels.  What you have to remember is that the Enigma 2 firmware was adapted for the AZBOX ME initially.  Later on it was also adapted for the older AZBOX's even though they have less resources.  Enigma 2 uses much more resources than the original factory firmware for the older AZBOX's.  Performance in some areas will be slower and some improved.

There is no restore on the older AZBOX's so if something happens and the install goes bad it isn't an easy task to go back to the original firmware.  You would need a USB to TTL cable for starters and a few programs and files to get it back to accept the original firmware.

I loaded the same OpenATV firmware on my Elite and it played the HD channels fine.  Being that the Elite doesn't have blind scan capability anyway that wasn't an issue.  For multimedia playback it may be worth it.

I don't know what you are looking to accomplish by loading Enigma 2 firmware.  If its a faster and better blind scan believe me it won't be.  On the ME its pretty fast and accurate but again its a totally different receiver.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
