Just few words to tell you that there is a free software for DVB-S measurement and video receiving. This software is call Tutioune and will show you true RF level, MER (S/N), VBER, CBER… and constellations in real time during you are receiving video and audio.
It is a software that allow to tune all parameters of front end and demodulator parameters as very few software can do.
Tutioune doesn’t use BDA driver that tell anything but truth and precision to us about signal strength and quality and that doesn’t allow to change demodulator parameters. Tutioune uses Saa7146a chip driver.
In that way, Tutioune offers all what a demodulator can do.
Reverse side of possibilities : Tutioune runs only – for this moment - with Tuner cards that have a STB0899 demodulator because it talks permanently with the chip registers.
TT S2-3200 is one of the most frequently used with Tutioune.
All cards accept SR down to 1MS and some cards like KNCOne HD are very sensitive (-100dBm tested)
Tutioune is firstly developed for Amateur Radio like me, that do DVB transmission and need tools to observe signals. (DATV = Digital Amateur TV)
So frequency you set is real frequency of tuner so you must subtract your LNB frequency – and you set by yourself 13V or 18V for Vertical or Horizontal polarity and 22 khz if you need to be in upper band.(I use 0V for DATV)
I use it to observe my DVB modulation on 1255 Mhz ( a radio amateur frequency allowed for DATV)
First information here about an old version
There are to way to use these software :
-Tutioune V0.9 for measurement and TiouneVideo V0.5 to decode PID, PMT.. and look at video. (Mpeg1 and Mpeg2 for the moment) But you can run 4 or 5 ( or more) instances of TiouneVideo with different PIDs and so you will look at same time to 4 or five channels.
Tutioune 1.0 “all in one” that is both software in one.
So you can observe permanently RF level, MER and constellations and look at video at same time.
There is no Blind scan for the moment because Radio Amateur have only few frequencies allowed, so no need to scan. But I think it can be add easily(?).
Another possibility with Tutioune is to send in real time your measures and pictures from video(1frame/sec) to a Web monitor called TiouneMonitor to Vivadatv Forum, so all other people can see in real time what you are receiving.
Here is one of my TiouneMonitor:
to see all list of TiouneMonitor:
Very often I send my receiving from Astra (France24) and you can see the propagation evolution ,because the TiouneMonitor show a graphic of last 2 hours of measurement.
Your Tiounemonitor is created automatically when you press the Web button of Tutioune.
Tutioune is free and can be downloaded here:
Sure it’s not so universal that Crazyscan, no blind scan and few Tuner cards for the moment, but it can do many things that Crazyscan don’t do for the moment and can set-up your tuner most precisely it can be.
I have developed Tutioune firstly for Amateur Radio DATV reception but I use it now frequently for satellite receiving/observing.
Future development can add new possibilities…
I hope some of you will enjoy to use it.
