I have been working on updating my system for quite some time and ordered a new Chaparral feed horn from Rick last week to go along with the APC controller I ordered some time back. I knew that some STB's didn't want to drive the APC correctly so I checked mine before I tear out all of the voltage controlled LNB setup. Good thing I checked beforehand because my receiver doesn't seem to want to drive the control properly. Watching the probe it just barely "wiggles" but never really changes position when switching between H&V channels on the STB.

Unfortunately the STB I want to use on this does not have a half volt boost setting for the LNB just voltage off and on.

I'm sure this has came up before but my searches didn't really unveil anything.. My question is has anybody came up with a fix or a modification to the APC to allow a slightly lower voltage work?
I haven't actually measured the voltage but I would assume it's relatively close to the 13 & 18 V thresholds.

Any ideas appreciated as I would like to get my Norsat PLL LNB working on my main dish verses the old DRO unit that is currently there.

Thanks,

Wayne

You may want to refer to the original thread where RandyK introduced the circuit that Rick is selling. In particular, study the schematic of RandyK's circuit and read the notes. I don't know much about his circuit's operation other than I redrew it in Eagle based on his original hand drawn schematic.
He may have modified it slightly along the way, but that schematic should be the gist of it.
Read whatever was discussed about it in that thread for further information.

For my own solution here, I ultimately went with building the PIC micro-controller based circuit discussed later on in the same thread.

thanks majortom! I appreciate the reply. When I get in I will look over his circuit and see if there is a better way to trigger the operation

After doing some checking I found where things get even sillier !  If I leave the LNB connection disconnected the APC works fine. It also worked fine on the bench when tested with 2 different STB's. But that was also unloaded.

This connection feeds an EMP 4X1 Diseqc switch which is looped through a STAB HH90 KU motor.

It seems something is loading wrong on my feed to the antennas, although it does sound odd.

Any ideas appreciated!  Gonna have to do some serious thinking on this deal it looks like [smile]

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
