I have been using a 1 TB drive for a couple of years and I haven't have any problems with it. I don't remember what drive I bought that I put in a case with ESADA and USB ports but it has been very reliable.

A couple of things to point out about using the 9200 for recording and playback, when you delete a show you recorded you do not get that space back on the drive. The dos system the 9200 uses records in sequence of use, and does not keep track of recovered space. The 1 TB was good for this problem.

The other problem I have is if I fast forward very fast the Pansat looses track of where it is in the recording and will repeat parts. I just let it play normal speed and it is fine. When you transfer the show to the computer the file transfers without any glitches.

I would transfer the files to the computer from the pansat, then do a format with the Pansat to get the space back.

Correct. You would transfer the files to your computer from the hard drive, then you would format the drive through the Pansat menu option. This you would give all the space back on the drive.
I could go about a year before I would come close to running out of space on the drive. I also use the Pansat to record the terrestrial shows I would like to watch in the future.

Have a 750gb 7200rpm Samsung I have put in an antec fan cooled enclosure but the 9200 wont see it.I then tried it inside the AZPlus and it did not see it also. Finally I put it into my desktop windows 7 machine and it see`s it just fine but the only option I see to format this hard drive is in NTFS.Now I know FAT32 is old but that is what this hard drive needs to be formatted in for the Panny to see it right? Is not being able to format this hard drive to FAT32 due to windows 7 no longer uses that for such a large drive?
I don't have an old xp machine anylonger to try that thought out so I would appreciate any ideas on this.

Thanks in advance.

Most hard drive manufactures have free programs for recovery and formatting on their sites.  Check on Samsungs site and grab a windows based tool for your drive.  You should be able to format the entire drive with the program in FAT 32.  Then the Pansat should see it and format it to the Dr Dos format if I remember right.

Thank you Emil...I went to Samsungs site and it appears that Seagate is handling all there tech support so I went to Seagate and was in the process of downloading the Disc Wizard but it stopped when it did not see a Seagate product......Any way just for a last stitch effort for the afternoon I unhooked the eSata from the enclosure and hooked up to the USB on the Pansat 9500 and bingo it seen the drive and was able to format it to FAT32...Now I can get this 9200 back in the system for recording.

If this is the first drive you are hooking up to the Pansat you may need to have the fix done to the 9200. There are instructions on the Pansat website to do the E-Sata drive ready fix called  9200HD_e-Sata_PVR_Ready_Fix.doc  The instructions say if you have a serial number above a certain range you don't need to do it but I needed to do mine even though I was in the range that did not need it. The Pansat, when turned on with the drive hooked up and running, the HDD button will call up the recorded menu and tell you, if you need to format the drive. It does not matter what format is currently on the drive it will tell you if you need to format the drive. Look at the pictures in the instructions and compare your main board to see if you need the update. The update can be done but it is hard to do with a magnifying glass and a soldering iron.

Jeff here is a link with some info.  http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/9200-PVR-TR-Q3-Upgrade-2858073
Edit:
To format when windows won't I use the free version of EaseUS Partition Master.
