There really arent any other full time 4:2:2 signals. I will try to record the next one that does pop up if possible. I will work on debug log. Need to learn how to do it on a regular basis.

Thank!!!

The Openatv that I am using records the channel on 97* just fine. I set a timer recording for 45 minutes and it recorded it all the best that I can tell. It also plays it back just fine. That is why I don't allways use the newer firmwares. This boot is also loaded down with plugins. By the way I am running 5.1 version.

Mountaineer: Glad to help. When I pull up the info screen the info is as follows   Kernel3.9.2  /Drivers 2013-09-17  / GSteamer1.5.1  /  Python2.7.9  /  Installed1969-12-31  /  Last update 2015-08-31 .  I have tried the newer versions and there was allways something in them that I didn't like or didn't work properly. Besides the 3.3.1 kernel this is the best one that I can remember doing the things I need plus working properly.  After all the plugins and skins, etc. that was installed there is just short of 15M of memory free.  Best I can remember the file was the 20150901 webif. Oh yea this is on an Azbox Me.

IF we could get an image wit 3.9.2 kernel/driver. (oatv 5.1 or newer) there would be best changes to find bottleneck and improve.
as in create a lighter image (that is memory is the issue). or patch Enigma code (if any of the more recent changes to buffers etc causes the instabilities.

to check for memory use..
could you open telent session and run this

while true; do free; sleep 5; done

then start a recording and see how the reported memory changes..

eg. while recording the 10 mbps channel i get his pretty stable mem use

total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available
Mem:         241236      128156       24156         844       88924       89282

curious to see this with the 35mbps 4:2:2 feed.

On CBS 4080V@97W SR29856 DVB-S2 it took 5 iterations to drop free down to ~12000. On GDMX 3740V@99 SR30000 DVB-S2 it took 12 iterations to drop free down to ~12000. On ABC 4120H@99W SR30000 DVB-S2 it took 9 iterations to drop free down to ~12000.

Thanks for that. And that was not an aborted recording or did it crash?
If so and it's quick , you could reduce the sleep Intervall to see how low it is going.

Memory leak I wonder.

If I remember right it was excessive spinners in the newer images for one thing. It has been a while since I've tried one. Here lately I have been using Hdmu more than Openatv. I guess it is just a matter of what works best for you and your setup. There is so much that the Me can do that it's not allways easy to find a firmware that can do it all the way that you want.

Thanks spinners during media playback. Well they should be goner in the official oatv soon.
In HDMU the more recent images have also some spinner. Once we got oatv 6 and 5.3 sorted, I'll hope HDMU will adopt the patch.

Wasn't there something in the Euro software that bricked the NA ME's and Mini-Me's if you tried to use it on a NA box and vice-versa??

@jdcpa, mountaineer.
the buffer/swap use is growing. question is wether there is a max amount it needs to run through.
mountaineer, if you still have your stripped down openrsi image that ran for an hour. could you monitor the mem use to see whether the buffer/swap use levels off and what what usage.

when testing with an oatv. here is quick way to get swap setup. maybe it will use it when the memory drains and recordings might run for longer. just for testing
Main Menu > Info Panel > Plugins > SwapManager
Green to create swap. will prompt for location and size.
once createdRed to active and yellow for autostart.
maybe reboot and test recording - whilest monitoring the mem use via free.
