found this on another site, maybe same instructions as above.

friend gave me his X5 to have a look at as it would'nt fire up,followed all instructions still would'nt work, then i found a bootup file on another site, same name as all the others i tried(KD_P9000E_HD.bin) and it worked.made a recovery folder on USB stick and loaded bin file into it. held OK button in ,switched box on and hey presto away we went. just tried to upload file but its not letting me BUMMER! if anyone wants this file please PM me. jim

  • 1 .. Make sure you use a clean USB Stick [with no files or folders on it]

2 .. Create a new folder on the USB Stick and name the folder x5 [you can name the folder anything you wish]

    3 .. Now place a copy of KD_P9000E_HD.bin in the x5 folder
[You do not even need a folder for this to work, you can just transfer the files to the USB Stick, just make sure there are no other files on the USB Stick]

4 .. Make sure the receiver is Powered OFF

5 .. insert the USB Stick into the front USB port on the receiver

6 .. Now you can turn the receivers Power ON

7 .. Quickly press any button on the front panel [I find it easier to press the Power button]
keep pressing the button until you see LOAd shown on the front panel, then you can release the button.

8 .. This should then fix basic problems regarding booting up, as the OpenBox X5 will be booted from the USB.

9 .. Once the OpenBox X5 has booted up correctly, but you still find the problem persists, then you should perform the following:
Menu -> System Setup click S/W Upgrade click Upgrade By Network or Upgrade By USB

I have a bricked X6 that I hope to get working again.  I wonder if the above method or similar would work for me?  My serial port shows no sign of life from the box.

Go to the sites yojia tech listed above. There are files etc there. Probably get good info there. I can't go there now to tell you yes or no.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
