Just a few features that I appreciate this receiver doing.

After scanning or changing something in the menu associated with a satellite position, you are given the question of if you'd like to return to the prior service or remain where you are.  No more exiting menues and the motor takes off for who know where!

You can assign a DiSEqC 1.2 motor position and not have it auto-assigned.  Excellent feature missing on many other recievers.

You can swing the dish motor to the east or west and it will automatically stop when it hits the signal.  The Amiko A3 had this and it is the only other receiver I've had that did this.  This is so nice in finding the satellite positions!

Please fill in more of the nice "little things" the SF4008 does.

Oh, and 4K!

The record function seems to record about as many channels off of a transponder as there are.  I had every CTV channel on one of their transponders recording w/out problems last night.

Hey gpflepsen, could you elaborate on this?

Are you saying that you are using USALS, but it also lets you tweak and save the satellite positions?

Thanks.

What I meant by assigning satellite positions for DiSEqC 1.2 is that I get to choose what address to give for an orbital position. I have my positioner (C band) programmed already and when I assigned satellites in the SF4008 I can enter the address and not have to reassign a position in the positioner. Quite a few other receivers would automatically assign a number, which means finding the satellite every time to establish the position with the address.

As far as USALS, you can fine tune an orbital in the Positioner menu screen, say adjust 125.0 to 125.5, to peak a signal. You could then edit the satellites.xml file with the information to have the motor go there. I do not know how you edit or add satellites from the user menus.

How do you fine tune the orbital in the Positioner Menu screen with USALS?

Go to menu (from memory...)

setup>Search Services>(pick tuner)>Positioner> Red button choose sat and transponder>toggle down to the Go To and change the number>press Yellow button to send the Go To command.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
