@crazycat: thanks for detailed explanation.
What about Micronas nGene? Could this bridge be compatible for generic purposes and not only mpeg ts?

I have a dektec, and it wont lock onto the signal. They have been in my computer checking, and are confused. The TBS6903 locks, and it does record the GSE mode and bbframes to disk fine.

@weather01089: perhaps the power the dektec card can supply doesn't fit for your lnb?
Did you try to insert DC power via a input switch?
How much did you pay for the dektec card?
Don't you have missing bytes with your TBS6903?

The dektec doesn't power the LNB, a standalone bias TEE does. And I have verified signal with both the TBS6903 card, and an airspy USB receiver that is running HRIT from the satellite fine.

I recorded quite a stretch with the TBS recorder, and the data was fine. Newest recorder has GSE mode selectable. The BBheader testing program from crazycat read them fine, with no errors.

I purchased this card on Ebay for $385. A far cry from what they get for them. It was unfortunately a one time deal.

oh that's intersting. What about the stream are all BBFrames having the same length?
Perhaps the TBS recorder would already filter out corrupt packages, as what crazycat is saying its impossible to get correct BBFrames due to missing signal lines to ecp3.
But perhaps TBS has found some undocumented feature in stv0910 to signal the bbframes start somehow different.

I was never able to get TBS to tell me ANYTHING about that recorder software, and they wont release source.
. Ill have to get another sample and see if they are the same length. TBS does claim that works in GSE mode, but we all know how that goes.

TBSRecorder just save all traffic from driver [smile] So you see same "garbage" with 6925 or 6983, 6903/5/8 [smile]

P.S. TBS, Dektec not say anything about GSE [smile] Generic stream or raw frame stream can contain ANYTHINGS [smile]

The capture I made from a TBS6903 with TBSrecorder (latest version and windows driver), was fed into the crazycat bbframes program I was sent. The frames appeared intact. Looking at the data, I could see the NCF headers that are part of the data and they LOOKED intact. I will have to capture a larger set and see how they do. Dektec would not even lock on the signal. The TBS does. Ill capture a large file and run it through your bbframes check program Crazycat. The small set looked pretty good.

I have used dektec card purchased for $94 on eBay.
That was a big gamble because it was broke and sold as is, I was able to fix missing capacitor on the board.
And ta-da it works.
I only have StreamXpert lite
Software with it, not the full StreamXpert version. The other software for BBframes, it records BBframes from the terminal. And it's ok seems like the tuner/demod is so sensitive you have to have really really strong signal to
Record anything

Anyway
I've been meaning to try wireshark open source with BB frame filter to see if it could recognize the sync byte or four byte L-3 frame format that dektec adds on to BB Frame,
But never got around to it yet.

Or maybe buy a tbs 6903 And see how that works with Linux and windows

I have a pretty good sized capture done with the TBS 6903 and TBSrecoder. If anyone wants to check it just give me an upload link in PM. It appears to have valid data. Crazycat says it might be just junk, but his bbframes program seems to find a lot of good frames in it. About 400mb.

TBSrecorder with the latest windows driver, and TBS6903, works with GSE on GOES16. I saved a large file, and we decoded it, comparing it to the test data from goes16 available for CSPPGEO. Whatever TBS is doing with that recorder program is working with GSE/BBframes. I actually had a CONUS image saved with the file I recorded.

Any chance we can get some way to get the Linux driver to work? Or some means to do something other than save to disk with windows?
