I see we have many South Carolina members among our ranks here. Is anyone aware of any active FTA installers in South Carolina (preferably in the upstate area?).  I'm planning on setting up a motorized FTA KU band system but also would like to be able to receive some C-BAND broadcasts. Surveying my yard I see I am going to have some line of sight issues on the C-BAND side and think I would be better off getting help from a professional as opposed to going it alone as a rookie. I've tried several phone numbers/emails from ftainstall.com but none of the ones I've tried are current.

A "trick" that many now gone installers used was to mount a large sat dish on a trailer and just drive it over to an interested customers yard. They could then show off what was possible with a sat dish in their yard. If they made a sale then a pole was set up in the yard and a dish got installed and wired into the home owners tv set. You could try something like this as a starting point. My first dish I got in the  middle of winter when the dirt here was very frozen. I just put the dish on a small flat bed trailer propped up with the help of a wood pallet. Then just "moved" the trailer around to tune the dish. Simple and worked until the weather got warmer in the spring. A hobby should be a hands on learning experience..

Thanks Comptech. I sent you an e-mail (or think I did). The message I got from you through the site had some "noreply@webtoolbox" address so I sent one through the link on here. I'd love some advice from those in the area who can give me guidance on what works/doesn't work well here.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
