Hi merkin,

We will ask.  Will be interesting to see if Octagon knows?  I guess that at least the engineers developing the receiver may know.

Thanks,

Rick

Octagon is saying that the new units coming in June will have both Hardware and Software Blind Scan.

Not sure exactly what that means, but we will be finding out.

They also said they have ATSC working well with the use of a USB Tuner.

Am waiting to find out what USB tuner they are using.  Also waiting on an answer about the HDR or DolbyVision question.

I am going to open a new catagory in the receiver section for Octagon and will be moving many comments from this thread to it.

These discussions about wanting various features with the goal of a perfect receiver seem futile. The target here is a rapidly moving target, and by the time any consumer FTA receiver comes to market, it will obviously be limited or deficient in some ways.
I think I would rather see a receiver capable of playing NASA-TV 4K, and a couple of the other signals we've already been playing, instead of waiting for a perfect receiver that will never be sold.
So I'd be interested in hearing about how this Octagon receiver works on NASA, and perhaps on those golf feeds of the Masters and US Open, etc.  I'm not interested in features aimed at subscription receivers that aren't likely to be FTA, and I'm also not interested in features like blind scan, 4.2.2, etc. I'd rather see an STB with limitations than nothing at all.

there was a 4k feed on Sunday, El clasico. Nothing could play it, if all 4k feeds used the same spec as that then were doomed.

it was in Europe on 10e, had a few 4k feeds that failed on the solo 4k but my gtx card played fine. This recent feed though failed, ended up looking like a slide show using lav codecs.

It's supposed to be hardware compatible, and be (or have been) upgraded to HDR with a firmware upgrade.  I do have this screen as seen here under How To Enable HDR on the TV...

https://ca.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/63061/c/65,67/p/61659,95543,95545,95556/

Where can I find some HDR content to see if the HDR icon shows up ?

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
