the default for the dsr6000..maybe the dsr6050 has the same defaults.
ip - 192.168.0.100
mask - 255.255.255.0
gw - 192.168.0.1

so i guess the easiest thing to do is connect your dsr6050 directly to your computer and then give your computer a static ip in the same subnet (eg. 192.168.0.200).  use the same mask and gw.  you can leave dns empty.

are you using windows pc? if yes, then after configuring a static ip, open cmd.exe and run:
ping 192.168.0.100

fingers crossed you get a reply.

Rick,
Did you check with a flashlight on the front  to see if it is just the backlight that went out or is it a total blank readout.

thanks
i display not blank but light up a bit.
i am pluged into the 10/100 lower rj45 not the gigE port  right.
i got lucky and saw onscreen output of the bnc/osd video port,  the fast facks screen said the ip is
            192.168.0.100
gateway192.168.0.001
sub       255.255.255.0

going to set up another computer to see if i can try the gigE port so i can still see the chat

The chart only outputs thru the BNC connector.

Added later:

Yes the direct connection to PC is with the GIG-E connector.

nope..keep it in same port and open your web browser and type in the ip address of the dsr6050.
you will get a login prompt.  you have to first go into web interface to configure the gige port since you dont know what the udp address is.  you will also need to configure a transponder while you are in there.

i guess your firmware version does not have a web server active.
or maybe it was disabled by the broadcast controller.  if thats the case a factory reset should re-enable it, but its i am not sure how you are going to be able to do a factory reset without a front panel display.

u: Keystone
p: KeystoneUser

those credentials are default for http/ftp/telnet.
unfortunately i havent figured out how to do much in the vxworks shell yet.

what port range did you scan? maybe the web server isnt running on the default port.

if i were you i would look for voltage on the lcd pins and determine if its the lcd is damaged or the lcd controller. if the former i would look for a replacement. i am sure most these dsr's made in the last 10 years use the exact same lcd panel and could be swapped out with little effort.
