What atsc tuners are you guys using in Linux?

Im using the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q and have added support for it in updateDVB. Set the LOF to 0 and it will pull the min/max freq from the driver then click the plot and it will tune the freq closest to a NA ATSC freq and attempt to tune it. There is no blindscan or spectrum scan yet, I'll look into adding those next month when I get back.

It only takes a second to add other tuners, if anyone wants to play around let me know what tuner your using and what modules it uses (lsmod) and I'll see if I can add it.

I use 2 of em

that evga inDtube atsc tuner
and a Hauppauge Aero-M which is ATSC M/H
The aero-M is actually kinda unique and has two frontends,
ATSC & ATSC M/H is adapter2/frontend0
while DVB-T frontend is adapter2/frontend1

hmm just checked the aero-m, now there's three frontends, 0,1,2
Possible Mike Kruftky has done more work adding ATSC M/H support.
I know he's been working on it. Previous kernel would just show two frontends I think.

sweet, so far the inDtube works like a champ.
two things I have to change

1st in order to tune correctly, I have to tweak tuner-xc2028.c
in v4l-updatelee to change the center freq. Can you push this?

and this in updateDVB to print the SNR in dB. Can you change that routine to print one way for ATSC, and the DVB way for everything else? Really should use floating point variable so we get snr in dB in decimals?? Mine reports in .5 dB steps.

    /*    tp.snr = (tp.snr * 100) / 0xffff; */

# use this formula for ATSC cards. And change the % symbol to dB
        tp.snr = (tp.snr) / 10;

can ya set it up to use different formulas for SNR DVB vs ATSC?

here's a screenshot from updateDVB showing the snr displayed in dB but still with the % sign in it (would change that too if I knew where, LOL). This is a repeater of CTVtwo Barrie, ON located on Fonthill near Welland, ON
I can get all but the weakest 3 Toronto stations from here..

And of course there is CBC comin with 25 dB snr from the CN tower in TO
where would we be without hockey?

smartscan now works for ATSC, if ATSC is selected it tries all the ATSC frequencies, takes about 75sec to scan on my box

Nice, works well here too. I will do more testing and report anything I can find.

You can shave off a significant more if ya eliminate scanning from ch 52 thru 69,
since noone will ever find anything from 700MHz thru the 850 cellular band.
I would configure it to scan from ch 2 thru 51 only since that's what is left for ATSC in North America
since the DTV conversion in the US and followed by Canada.

i'm not able to get at my desktop right now, but I have a hauppage hvr-1800 to try if you feel ambitious, lol! QAM and atsc work in mythtv, but analogue input has NEVER worked, and I'd like to see something besides windoze (rarely run it, ha) work with it...it also has FM radio tuner....3 input ports total...

my app wont ever work with analog, I havent played with qam but assume its dvb based as well? I dont know. ATSC is pretty much dvb, at least its close enough everything works
