I spent several hours tonight trying to do some HD+ cleanup after deleting one obsolete service and finding a different one on same sat mysteriously replicated itself. From that point, services kept rearranging themselves after my doing renames, deletes, moves, reboots, shutdowns, and other edits. Within minutes of thinking I was finally done, and doing a fresh backup for the first time in 11 months, "cannot find channel list" bit me for the first time I can remember ever happening. After digging the hole deeper for a couple or more hours, I reformatted  the application area three times and reflashed 0.9.5402, which solved nothing that I could tell. Eventually it dawned on me that /DISK2/all_channel.dat had somehow disappeared. Once I restored my whole 11 month old backup, and saw what seemed to be normal function again, I restored the new backup. It continues to work what seems just fine.

I bought my HD+ from Rick nearly 6 years ago, but only tonight I seem to have figured out something new, never noticed reading here anyway, on the avoiding database corruption front -> don't do service deletes from individual satellites. Instead, delete from the ALL list. Anyone here notice this helping?

Haven't had my AZ long enough to have gotten into that kind of trouble yet.  I will remember what you say though when I am cleaning up the channel list, Thank you.

I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure that when I've deleted channels, it has usually if not always been from the individual satellites, and haven't observed problems as described above as a result. Once I get a day or two of free time though, I think I may experiment with that though.
The symptoms described are of course consistent with corrupted .dat files, but I think it's just a case of once the .dat files get corrupted, very weird things happen.
But re how to avoid corruption in the first place, one thing that has been demonstrated to cause corruption is "renaming", and you mentioned doing renaming above.  I can't remember off hand whether it's satellites or channel renaming that causes the corruption, and can't remember what menu was involved.  There is a thread about it though, so you might search for rename and corruption.
My way of avoiding corruption is to never rename anything, never use channel editor programs, and NEVER use the ACC program.  I do all my editing via the remote, and do all my upload/downloads of .dat files via generic FTP programs, not programs that alter the /DISK1 area that could require a lot more than reloading firmware to correct.

Using MAZ to rename and the ACC program to save ( backup ) after the renaming is done works great!.Been doing it for many years and this is the best way I have found to keep an AZ clean and corrupt free!

Is there a MAZ that runs natively on Linux? I never found one. Apps that depend on Windows, Wine and/or Java have historically dominated the too difficult to use class here, generally producing windows that don't fit their content when settings are adjusted to make text legible, if text could be made legible at all. Consequently, I boot Windows maybe 10 hours a year, the vast majority of which is spent waiting on updates to download and install, intending either to update a Harmony, or check if something that seems broken on Linux will work in Windows. AZBoxes are computers that run on FOSS, like the 24/7 computer I'm typing this on, where apps I normally use either make text and app and settings windows big enough to be usable by default, or by allowing window resizing or applying a different theme. If there was a MAZ or equivalent that was compiled natively for Linux it would probably be usable here. I would certainly try it.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
