NASA TV has a signal, but no 4K video (at least last two days).  When was the last time that they were broadcasting?

Not sure when Jeff will check back in, but there has been a few delays.  So probably not this month.

Will have to wait to see what Jeff says.

Sorry everyone.

I received the case and rejected it. It all looks good in a photo shoot, but it is really ugly in person. I had to reject it on the ugly scale and they also took out 2 USB ports. This is unacceptable to us. So we are working out the issue.

I'm not going to be bullied to purchasing something that is not to our standards and what we agreed too. My agent is working hard to resolve the issue.

We should have the resolved shortly after close to a years time working on this.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Jeff S.

You did the right thing Jeff. Thank you for all the hard work you put in for this hobby. My Manhattan 1997 is the best receiver I've ever had!

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Any idea how far the time frame will be pushed back? 6 months, a year? I really want a new receiver worth owning.

No it should not be 6 months.

We should have these issues done hopefully this week.

One question for response. LG has been real jerks on this new 1.0/3.0 tuner. Plus the FCC has been dragging the release of standards until October 1st. (I know sell the frequencies before you have the new standards set). Then they received no money for this bandwidth from the recent auction.

Anyway the question is that this unit is a triple play. So we wanted to wait until the new tuner comes out. Which indications are that is should be out shortly after the release from the FCC in October. So we should wait until the new tuner is ready, no? Because then we cannot replace the 1.0 for the 3.0 tuner is what we ware hearing from China. So then we would have unit for ATSC 1.0 and for ATSC 3.0 in the unit.

Understand the FCC set the time date of 39 months for each station to become compliant from the October 1st date. So in each market you may have some stations using 1.0 and some in 3.0. That is another reason to wait for the dual tuner.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Jeff Schumann

I am just glad someone is trying to bring a proper Satellite Receiver to market, way too many junk boxes out there. The OTA tuner would be nice but I could live without it, I can't get many of the Los Angeles digital stations here and the rest are in analog still and serving a market of almost 500,000 people on a translator.

I understand the ATSC tuner dilemma although its probably unlikely to make everyone happy.    If I am correct in my understanding that ATSC 3.0 tuners are not backward compatible, you are going to have to choose between releasing a device with a tuner which has a shelf life of ~9months -  3 years vs. releasing a tuner which may not be functional for ~9 months - 3 years depending upon local station transition.    My best suggestion would be to have the tuner module be end user upgradeable and release your new STB with ATSC 1.0 to ensure they are functional now.    The chipsets in Android boxes evolve pretty quickly and its likely far more desirable options will be available in 2-3 years when ATSC 3.0 rollout become more clear.

I believe the 39 month timeline your thinking of has to do with the amount of time the fcc is giving TV stations to move to re-assigned channels, after a successful forward auction is completed.
Since no one knows (including the FCC) when exactly that will be, I find it hard to have anything to do with ATSC 3.0. As of July 13th, the writing of the below blog, ATSC 3.0 isn't even a "standard" yet,
as indicated by thus far having only 1 of 15 documents completed and approved.
http://www.tvtechnology.com/broadcast-engineering/0029/atsc-30-document-status/278984

As of today, what ya see on the ATSC website for 3.0 standards, still shows just that one document
being approved. http://atsc.org/standards/atsc-3-0-standards/

The buzz ya read is that ATSC 3.0 will likely be deployed on an optional basis. Meaning the FCC might not
force stations to use it like they did during the digital transition (still up in the air?). The Broadcasters have complained, and rightly so that they would have a hard time maintaining OTA viewership and thus revenue on a system that no one can receive, because no one's current TV can receive it. Will likely be a simulcast type of thing for any stations that do choose to use it.

My impression is that we could be waiting a while for the first ATSC 3.0 receivers to be designed, built and rung out to the point of production.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
