I don't know where to put this question so I put it here.  Does anyone use a video scaler on c-band or ku band.  I have a receiver that upscales and one that does not.  I swear that the upscale receiver gives a better picture on sd.  I have been looking at a DVDO EDGE.  Anyone have one? or know anything about them?  Web search on them looks impressive in terms of evaluation and reviews.  thanks

I use the Motorola HDD-200. It does a pretty good job as a line doubler on SD channels. However, it only connects to 4DTV receivers so you have to run all other inputs through the 4DTV receiver. Here's a link from an article on using the HDD-200 as a line doubler.

I don't have the DVDO Edge, but I do have a DVDO VP50 and a couple of other models that have similar capabilities and performance. They are very impressive, regardless of how well your screen upscales or not. It somewhat depends what you watch and the quality of the rest of your system. In particular I've found the deinterlacing and frame rate conversions to be quite useful on high quality material. I haven't used them as much for upscaling SD, but when I have they do better than anything else I've seen.

Since most devices these days have some kind of upconversion built in (i.e. DVD players, AV receivers, displays) there as been less demand for outboard processors. When I did have them in my system, though, the Lumagen line was one of the best out there. You may want to check them out if you're interested in high-end video processing gear. In the past, they have been really accessible and easy to work with as well with tech. questions and support.

Good luck.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates on our receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply, that might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
