All good feedback here - and much appreciated given that I'm learning that this is quite the do-it-yourself hobby with nobody local to come over and take a look. But if any of you are nearby....

Yes, I have reset the east/west limits after the motor was replaced and then proceeded to re-program the sat. locations after that. And then they become the incredible floating locations again where the number remains the same but the dish physically lands some place different. Also, I have set the receiver to a linear west orientation per being "east of the mississippi" and the actuator arm being to "the right of the dish when looking from behind." Actually, I'm told that selecting either orientation makes no difference as long as you keep apples to apples - in other words do all your programming  from either linear east or west and don't change up in the process.

I will do some real testing here these next couple of days between receivers and see what it might reveal. If it does come down to needing a new actuator, then that will mean more of an investment...and more of a wait on the installer's schedule to revisit and replace.

Thanks one and all for your willingness to help!

THE UPDATE:

Just thought I'd pass along my findings. Hook up of the alternate 4dtv receiver revealed that the count/dish position issues still remain. So, looks like some sort of problem out at the dish. A new actuator/motor/sensor may be the answer. Now on to what to get and how to get it in place.

"Onward and onward..."

Last word...

New actuator installed yesterday and all is right in dish viewing land! Wow, what a difference to be able to depend on the dish returning to its programmed location over and over again! And this motor is so quiet you can't even tell it's working. My neighbors will appreciate the dish doing its G1 2 a.m. homing thing in silence.

Thanks for all the input through this. I always thought this should be how things worked. Just needed the right stuff.

Now hopefully my searching for answers will be limited to all the feed info.!

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates on our receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply, that might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
