Now that the KRBK suite abandoned 3720H, I needed to update its frequency. IIRC, always in the past I used service editor in satellites manager in TSpanel for edits, but 'ipkg list | grep anel' finds no TSpanel package in 5.3. How can channels be edited from the receiver now (without Windows and without WINE)? Is the web interface supposed to be able to do this? The only thing that seems close is the bouquet editor, but I don't see even a way to change a service name there, much less a way to change frequency.

As a workaround, I spent the time to backup the ME's settings externally, shut it down, move its cables to my other ME, boot the other ME's 3.0 with 3.31 kernel, restore satellites.xml and lamedb from the external backup, scan in 3845H@99W, rename the 3 services with TSpanel, save lamedb externally, shut it down, put the cables back, boot 5.3, restore the freshly made lamedb, switch off its power, boot again, and have all the freshly scanned 3845H services working - lots of time and work for something that took a tiny fraction of the time to do with my 1933 & 1997 Manhattans. [tongue]

If your ME's are connected to your network, you can use Dreamset or Dreambox Edit to copy and edit your channel lists on a computer, change what you want, then write the new list back to the ME's.

Where can I get Dreamset or Dreambox Edit compiled for Linux? I've had no luck finding either, even though Dreambox Edit is hosted on Sourceforge.

Have you tried to install TS Pane threw TS Media? I run Opens ATV 5.3 in one of mt MEs and have TS Panel installed and if I remember right did it threw the "Desktop icon, now you may need the latest TS Media installed for it to work.

try this in TS Media
Desktop/Tools/Files
scroll down to Files and start looking for TS Panel in the list, (should be close to the end) select it and the GREEN button to install it. the 7.4 is what I have installed in mine, even if you see a older TS Panel install it then upgrade threw TS Panel its self, I think that is what I had to do to get it back.

My 5.3's plugin browser shows no TSMedia, only 7 entries: 1-EMC (enhanced movie center); 2-media player (multiple movie players?); 3-media scanner (scanning for what?); 4-MyMetrixLite (metrix config); 5-OpenWebif (configuration via browser); 6-Picture player (a third media player?); 7-Programlisten-Updater (for what program updating?). IIRC, this is a default set (I added no plugins that I can recall).

I do have enigma2-plugin-extensions-tspanel_6.7_mips32el.ipk saved to HD. Is there a way without installing to find out if it's new enough to be OK to install and then get it to update itself? I've tried to get ipkg to find me a tspanel package to install, but so far it seems I may have less than adequate understanding of ipkg options and syntax. I'm used to zypper, urpmi and yum/dnf in combination with grep when necessary. This is e.g. what I get by searching with ipkg:
# ipkg search panel
# ipkg search *s?panel*
# ipkg search *spanel*
# ipkg search *Spanel*
# ipkg search *Panel*
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0
enigma2-plugin-extensions-infopanel - 5.3+git22703+1cbeb3d-r0

Absence of anything that looks like TSpanel makes me worry it may cause breakage, which might not be easy to recognize as damage until too late to prevent being forced to start with a fresh image flashing.

That version should work in OpenATV 5.3 and any one of the newer kernel images.  Hook up your HD and it may find it.  If not you can install it through the menu.  Once installed it will let you update to the latest version.

Thx Emil.

I used ipkg to install 6.7, then used TSpanel to update itself to 7.5. Before restarting Enigma2 post-install, I used MC to copy the download from /var/tmp/opkg to the location where I'd saved previous plugin packages, so that it would be handy for whenever I need to flash a new image again.

It seemed to work fine for a while, then I tried to edit the names of the three recently moved KRBK services now on 3845H@99W. I got two of them changed, then while trying to change the last, the ME ceased to respond to the remote. I had to cold boot it twice from telnet login before it would respond to the remote again. When I tried to change the third service name, I found the other two had reverted to what they had scanned as. Next try to rename I only did one at a time, then cold booted after each. That succeeded to change all three service names, but now it doesn't bother to mount the internal HD when it boots. Mounting manually on telnet login works, but I don't recall ever running into this problem before myself, or reading about it here. [frown] For now, I've added a fstab entry to make it mount automatically.

Anyone have any idea why automatic internal HD mounting would have stopped working?

I use my NAS to record from the ME so not sure why the internal HD doesn't mount.  That was the case for OpenATV 3.0 using the previous kernel but haven't hear about that issue in OpenATV 5.3.

TS Panel for satellite/channel editing has never really worked for me and always has resulted in errors when editing.

One of the editors Dreamset or Dreambox Edit is the way to go.   I use Dreamset to edit the KRBK transponder frequency change and it worked like a charm.  It lets you rename channels and let's you lock them so they are unaffected by a new scan.
