Kodi/XBMC does tuning and recording of live TV as a client connected to a backend server.  Tvheaded is one, but many are supported.  TVH can run on the device itself.  You can connect to a server on a Windows box.

You can set a timer for recordings, but it's also fairly easy to get EPG data into TVH which is served out to Kodi.  You can browse the EPG grid from within Kodi and select programs to record. You can set it to always record the program.   From the Web UI of TVH you can do things like add in a program name and tell it to record it if it ever comes on.  It'll watch all the channels and record it for you if it ever shows up on TV from now until when ever.

TVH supports live TV or pretty much any network stream.

QK!  I have a Pansat9500, A Manhattan 1933, and an orginal AZ prem Hd.  I also have a seperate OTA reciever that works much better that the two TV's that I have.  I'm not well  informed on XBMC , Android or Linux.  My qoestion is; Would this be of value to me for Netflix, Amazon and Roku streeming to my TV?  I don't play games but my wife sets up at night and plays games on her computer.  Is this something she might use?   I'm 76 and my wife is 65.  Jess out in California

Basically you turn a regular TV into a smart TV with these. One that doesn't spy on you [smile] Tuners are optional.

Thanks bluzee;  I guess I need to start saving my pennies for one of these.  I have a friend that works on our computers when needed.  I;m sure he can help me figure out how to make one of these work for me.  Jess out in Californiia

I got the chance to play around with my WeTek last night
The satellite tuner, I scanned in the RTV channels  SES2 no problems ( didn't try anymore)

Since the Wetek comes from factory with android software.
I haven't checked which version, I think jellybean, hopefully we will have lollipop soon.
I logged in using my Google account
I was able to view my email, all my apps, plus the ones that come on the WeTek

My Sharp Tv is not as smart as I would like it to be ,But with the Wetek ( Its is smarter)[cool]
I was able to pull up my security cameras for  my house and the Inlaws using the android app
and view them on my 70'' screen, that was nice.
I also have a dish anywhere app, I can view my dish channels off of my bedroom receiver, I don't
have a receiver in the Den. I was using chromecast,  to cast the screen off of my smartphone, to view my dish channels
I want need to do this anymore.

The Wetek also has dual boot, android and Linux.
The Linux software does not come with the wetek, just android
You can download the linux software from many places on the web
The linux goes on the mini sdcard, the card needs to be fat32
I used  openlec
You need to burn the image to the card, power off  WeTek , I pulled the power  plug.
I popped  in the sdcard in  card slot, power on Wetek, your on openlec.
Power off, pop card out, reboot your back on android, just that simple
I will play some more this week hopefully
so for, I like it

It is a fun little box...does everything it's supposed to and does it well. I am affixed to Google as I use Chrome for a browser, GMail for some of my email, Google drive for 300 Gigs of backups for church and radio station, and the WeTek deals with all of it without a glitch. I have several Android devices, and it integrated itself right along with them with 0 issues. As the reviewer said in the video, I would like to see a future WeTek have a bit more memory space for apps.

I haven't spent a lot of time yet with the satellite receiver section of it, but one thing I can verify is that it works fine with the AMC 8 AAC radio feeds. I was interested in using it to replace an S-10 that I was using for that purpose (among all the other things it does). But one thing I have noticed though is the satellite add-on module runs fairly hot...is anyone else seeing that?

And one more thing...I could probably do a little research and answer this but I'll ask here. I know that Openlec (and probably other OS's) can be booted from the microSD card, but if you pop a blank card in the slot will the WeTek store files and apps on it like a phone does?

Yes, I've had to REBOOT mine a couple of times (or at least with my impatience I've rebooted)
Last night when scanning in (only) my third satellite, it lost all info and wouldn't let me even get back to the scan folder... This morning I had to do a factory reset to be able to get back to it.
I noticed it was a little warm last night, but didn't think that was a contributor? But after your post I'm thinking it must have been?
I have an external HDD hooked up and last night it was seeing it, I even checked out a recording of Big Valley from it. Worked great! Today (even after the factory reset) it doesn't see it? The HDD even lights up when the WETEK turns on, and goes off when I turn it off. Don't have a clue with that?
But all in all, I like it so far. It's another learning curve for me, but I think I can handle it...
We'll see?

P.S.
I don't see why you couldn't use a microSD card for storing files on it? In my search for my HDD there is a place to back-up files and it ask me to put in my microSD card. I don't have one yet. But back-up files/files, what's the difference? It should be OK...

I believe you can use a MicroSD card to run apps but not 100% sure as I hadn't tried it.  I know they are looking into using USB to extend the storage for apps since many use the MicroSD for OpenElec.

I streamed the racing from fanschoice.tv last night in Android using Google Chrome and it worked great in full screen.

I like this little box a lot.  Plenty of options to explore.  The tuner is very sensitive - it scanned in everything visible here on 5W on the first try, which is really impressive - those signals aren't strong at all.  And the default satellite list is very complete and up to date.  And the IPTV offerings are especially nice (wish I could speak Turkish though).

But.  I'm going to have to rework the satellite list to be able to have separate entries for the C and Ku sides of dual-band satellites.  Do-able, but I'm not looking forward to it, with the remote.

Has anyone (EmilNJ?) looked into outboard satellite/channel editors for this box?

cool looking box..the CPU has both a GPU and a separate graphics processor. the latter claims 4:2:2 support this datasheet http://tabreview.ru/content/pdf_docs/aml8726-m3_quick-reference-manual.pdf..

but it says the video decoder only supports standard profiles/levels.  maybe they can use the 2.5D graphics processor to do a color space conversion and let the Mali GPU take over from there.

maybe they can also use one of the PWM controllers to add servo support in a later hardware revision..cant hurt to ask.

EmilNJ, are you using the OpenElec from Wetek's download page (v4.97.2 aka 5.0RC2), or is there a newer version downloadable elsewhere?

I am currently running the 5.0.1 OpenElec image from the Wetek forum.  Below is a link to it.

http://www.wetekforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=394

I am actually backing up the data right now and plan on installing the update to 5.0.3.  Link below.

http://www.wetekforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=462

Make sure you only use the updates designed specifically for the Wetek.  Also don't do any daily build updates in Kodi as they are generic updates and not Wetek specific.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
