Im going to be switching over the v4l-updatelee tree from mercurial to git over the next few days.

The mercurial tree will stay in play till Im happy with git.

Git has some advantages over mercurial in the sense that v4l uses git, so it'll be easier to keep my tree in sync with the v4l tree. For the average user it wont mean much difference just a different command you type. But for developers it should mean easier sync's

I'll update this thread thread as things progress.

They look very similar and this should help me git familiar with git

Hg uses "update" though does git have a counter part or does it auto update.

I believe the cmd is just

git pull

to pull all new changes from the git server

dont bother downloading the repo yet, Its not ready yet. I'll let you all know when I think its good, I'll let you all test it for a so before I turn the mercurial one off

Probably gonna need to remove that complier directive again to fix the inDtube Center Freq Problem.

K, thx, pulled the change and the inDtube is indeed tuning correctly using the git tree.

Minor issues for the prof 7500 + stv090x driver config I've seen so far which have already been reported, just getting them in this thread.
- Tuned frequency reported by the tuner's get_frequency function is wrong.
- The Lock LED is broken.

Good thing so far is it seems more stable with updatedvb. On the stv0900 quite often after several failed tunes, it would become unresponsive, and I'd find myself pwr cycling the device. Haven't seen that at all with the stv090x driver.

the led lock is probably my fault, I'll look into it.

the reorted freq is an odd one, the fault is in stb6100 reading the freq back, its a really simple function I cant figure out why its not working. Cause some of its working, some of its not, yet its the same loop that grabs all the registers at once, some are correct some are not. really odd. and only on the 7500. Im still researching it.

Yeap, understood. I've been looking at it also. Don't understand all the registers and stuff or how it gets calculated so basically I'm toast reading that section of code, LOL.

found where to put some dprintk() action in stv0900_core.c, so I can compare the snr between the two drivers, stv0900_core.c of v4l-updatelee, and stv090x.c of the git tree.

No difference whatsoever in 'rf_level' or 'snr' on the weaker Ion Mux which plays fine on
v4l-updatee, but breaks up with some BER on v4l-updatelee-git.
Worth noting that c/n failure for S2 8PSK shouldn't occur until ~ 6.6 dB with FEC 2/3.

http://pastebin.com/qKm5Syn7

I think stv0900_core.c and stv090x.c normalize the rf levels in to "Strength" differently accounting for the higher "Percent" strength in stv0900_core.c.

Ok,

forgot how to paste a screen shot?

Picture was file difference at line 5247 of stv090x.c  (the file contained .delmod, .delfec in folder v4l-updatelee)
those 2 lines were missing in folder v4l-updatelee-git

Ive removed delmod and delfec as per a conversation with v4l mailing list. They seem to think its not important and not going to happen. So... out it goes. It has zero effect on tuning, it was just there to let the user poll the frontend to see what modulations and fec it supported.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
