OK, I have been busy. I had done a pull and compiled the new kernel 3.11 this afternoon but never got around installing the new debs. I installed them and did a new pull to to get the last commits. Just recompiled and installed the latest modules. While I was at it I did a pull on updateDVB to get the latest and compiled it.

I scanned in clear channel pbs to test with everything upgraded and still have 46% Q and my manhattan has 72%.

Here is what you wanted UDL:

That is so true. I started in linux when the kernel was 2.xx. They have come a long way since then. If you wanted xwindows you had to run Xconfigurator and hope you could get some type of video configured for the video card. I remember xwindows being really flakey at times. (Crashing on badly written programs). If you wanted anything extra you had to basically configure and install yourself. I remember having to create chat scripts for the modem to dial out to connect to an internet provider to connect to the internet. Before that there was the BBS scene. LOL

saw the BB gain tweak in last pull
prof 7500 seems OK.
Same transponder for me reads 76% qual on the Openbox S9 (Same ALI chipset as Manhattan I believe?), which is a really crappy
quality indicator BTW (S9 that is).
Prof 7500 reports 65% and plays it fine.
Can't think of anything harder than S2 9/10 FEC feeds, like CBS and it plays the one on 97 West OK at ~ 71%. On my system as long as I get sound on CBS with the S9, I have enough snr to play it on the Prof. There are times when there's just enough interference to cause problems on CBS with my antenna system (only 7.5'). But the 97W one is usually pretty solid.

Everything is fine here if I don't have the latest kernels and their modules in the new git repository booted up (3.10 or 3.11). Plays great in kernels 3.8 and 3.2 when I am using the v4l-updatelee hg repository modules. I'm tired and can't think straight but I think I read he changed the modules up some way in the latest kernels for the prof 7301.

I think the snow blizzard that hit last winter warped my dish with about 500 pounds of snow and ice. I had better signals before the snow. Just have not had the ambition to fix it.

Try as I may; can not get kernel 3.11 to recognize TBS5925 (STV090x) as an adapter.
Both of my ATSC tuners are recognized and work well.

A little quirky trivia: The HVR950Q does the spectrum scan and I can channel tune with the QwtPicker plus if I
change the adapter to the HVR1600(5sh1409) and use the QwtPicker I can also channel tune. majortom have you noticed that?

UDL, where did you say the wiki was located for updateDVB?

yes you should be able to tune with the s5h1409 by clicking on a frequency on the graph, even though it doesn't do spectrum scan.

wiki is here, we'll have to start contributing to it..

You can use the same feature to tune other satellite cards as well, if you have one that supports spectrum scan and one that doesnt, do a spectrum scan then switch adapters over to the one that doesnt and tune with it. I used to use my genpix that way until I added support for it as well. The spectrum scan still needs a little love on the genpix devices, but at least it works now

Did you enable the TBS5925 in make menuconfig ?

I looked in my .config and saw TBS5925 is not enabled by default. I just took the defaults in menuconfig:

CONFIG_DVB_USB_NOVA_T_USB2=m
# CONFIG_DVB_USB_TBSQBOX is not set
# CONFIG_DVB_USB_TBSQBOX2 is not set
# CONFIG_DVB_USB_TBSQBOXS2 is not set
# CONFIG_DVB_USB_TBSQBOX2CI is not set
# CONFIG_DVB_USB_TBS5925 is not set
CONFIG_DVB_USB_TTUSB2=m
CONFIG_DVB_USB_DTT200U=m
CONFIG_DVB_USB_OPERA1=m
CONFIG_DVB_USB_AF9005=m
CONFIG_DVB_USB_AF9005_REMOTE=

Thank you,

alls well!

What's the difference between "make modules_install" and "make install"?:)

Going to supper while "make modules" is compiling then coming back after
a glass of supper wine. Ran "make install" instead of "make modules_install" Long day! But

alls well!

Thanks again

'sudo make modules_install'  is used when ya wanna compile one or a couple drivers,
you can install just the modules, and not the whole kernel every time something changes.

checkout the README

Can you please explain how I should use make menu config?  Is there a default setting that will ensure all my basic hardware will be supported including my PROF 7500?

Sorry majortom,

I was being a wee bit facetious.

But while on the subject of module installation.
Is it possible to install a few, instead of a few hundred?

And if possible where can I find that protocol?

Thank you,
And again the TBS5925 is working well in updateDVB!

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
