Nice work...seems to parse much more reliably now..
Something I noticed about the stv090x driver (prof7500) is it seems to be reporting the wrong tuned frequency?

Hmm...

Ive switch'd all my stv0900/0903 cards over to stv090x. All are reporting the correct freq except the Prof 7500. Which used to use stv0900. The 7301 which I also switched over reports the correct freq (thats all it does, I think its broke)

I'll look into it

Since using the new git repository with the 3.10 kernel and modules installed; I have noticed today that some of my channels scan in with very low quality and pixel so bad I could not watch them. I was thinking something was wrong with my dish until I turned on my manhattan and the quality was good and was able to view with no problem. I have three linux versions installed on my computer and went to each one and I have no problems with quality except with updateDVB with the new kernel 3.10.

Attached pictures are with clear channel pbs on sat 103w tuned in:

First one is Linux Mint Debian kernel 3.2 with stv090x-scan quality  69%
Second one is Linux Mint Olivia 15 kernel 3.8 with updatedDVB quality 69%
Third one is Linux Mint Olivia with new git kernel 3.10 with updateDVB quality 49%

The first two with quality of 69% play flawlessly. Basically can not watch with the new 3.10 kernel with it's modules on this channel.

The second and third pics are using the same exact updateDVB bin: just booted with different kernel.

My manhattan shows quality of 70%.

feel strange about QAM16 modulation being reported in the first two screenshots.
Possibly the frontend.h that was used to compile isn't lining up with the version of updateDVB your running?

The updateDVB bin used in the pics was compiled today with the latest pull this mourning booted in the latest 3.10 kernel from the git pull. I did have three prior updateDVB bins I tried; built under kernel 3.8 kernel but they give the exact same results on quality with the 3.10 kernel. I will boot back over to kernel 3.8 and use a updateDVB bin built under it and see if the QAM16 changes.

OK that makes sense. If ya read the earlier posts I think UDL mentioned the 7301 was currently "broke" (post 47) in the git tree. Maybe that's what he was referring to. When I downloaded the entire kernel, it gave me 3.11.0-rc2+
But I don't have a 7301 and just using the new tree. In the other kernels ya probably see stv0900 and not stv090x in ur lsmod printout. Have ya compiled tune-s2 in the new kernel? What's that reporting for quality?

7301 is now using stv090x for the demod driver in my tree. Could be why it's reporting different values.
Doesn't explain why is broken quality though.

I'm looking into it.

Yes is 3.11 now. I'll Updatelee the readme shortly.

My 7301 is broken I believe. Yours is getting DVR packets right? Mine isn't.

On that note. Could you copy paste tyre tveeprom output from the Kern.log for me?

We've gone through 3.9 to 3.10 and now it's maybe 3.11!!!  What in the ding-dong is going on with these kernels and why can't we live with one for more than what seems to be less than a month or two?

Not really sure what you were wanting so I am giving you my kernel log from boot all the way through playing a little bit of a movie on ion. It got to where I could not get a lock on clear channel pbs so I tuned in and played ion channel for a few seconds and backed out of everything and closed out updateDVB.

Just in case I also attached lsmod.

Finally got it compiled with the deb packages.
Under 3.11 I have both ATSC adapters but no TBS5925 (STV090x)
/dev/dvb/ shows adapter0 & adapter1

Under 3.9.2 all three adapters show up

Tried "git pull" ; response was " up-to-date".

I'll double check the modules since no third adapter.
Any other suggestions.

Did you do a make menuconfig and confirm the saa716x drivers were selected. Something I like todo is

cp /boot/config-3.9.2 .config
make menuconfig

this will take your old config (assuming its 3.9.2) and use that as a start for the make menuconfig

You dont need to completly reinstall the entire kernel now though, just enable it then

make -j8 modules
sudo make modules_install

use -j8 for a 8core/thread processor. type 'top' then press the number 1 to see how many threads your cpu can handle. just speeds up compiling.

It's frustrating to say the least.  I think I'll just crawl back into my hole and play with perl and a discrete fourier analysis project I'm coding.  My head of hair is safer.  :)

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
