merkin, photoman...have you guys looked at this with a real spectrum analyser?
Take a peek at how steep the rolloff looks on satsignature, zoomed to a 50 MHz span,
compared to the signal next to is at 3820, which is a rolloff of 20 when you lock it, at the same span.
so if the signal at 3820 is rolloff at 20%, what's that make this one on 3860? Gotta wonder.

unfortunately i dont have one.  i looked at this signal on satsignature a few days ago hoping to get a carrier lock option, but its not available.. id say 5% or less, so what modulations out there have such a steep roll off?

I think the rolloff is a function of the delivery system being used.
I also think the lowest rolloff for the original DVB-S2, meaning none of the recent so called extensions,
was 20%.

DVB-S
.35

DVB_S2
.35
.25
.20
Makes me think the signal you are looking at is using one of the extensions.

i think @photoman76 mentioned in the past that he has a demod capable of dvb-s2x, but maybe not enough snr to lock

I have the TBS 6522 which is supposed to receive DVB-S2X signals.
But I've never found any yet.
When I got the lock a few days ago, I was using the TBS 5925 which can't do DVB-S2X.

photoman, ya didn't happen to save a snapper from when it was locked did ya?
If so, what was the rolloff indicating?

roger that.. For what it's worth, with updateDVB in linux, while it's unreliable when unlocked obviously, every field is stable, except for rolloff, TS/GP, CCM/ACM, SIS/MIS
which continously change while it's 'Searching" for a lock
seems to indicate 3/5 FEC constantly..

I think this is a DVB-S2X signal. photoman, can you check your s2x card?

I checked it with the TBS 6522 and didn't get a lock.
The lock I got originally was with the TBS 5925, so it couldn't be DVB-S2X.

Yeah, but the lock went away quick and couldn't be reproduced. Could've been a fluke....
