I am trying to upgrade the firmware in my Ultra from 5020 to the latest 5311 to try & improve overall performance. I am using a USB stick following the instructions found in other posts. I got the upgrade screen and started the upgrade but it never finished or rebooted. How long does the upgrade process usually take?

Usually you will see a progress bar at the tv screen (using yellow video cable connection), showing the files being installed, as wm9 say, it takes around 3 minutes. Also is mentioned that is better to format the application area 3 times or more, before any firmware update.

The upgrade process hung a couple of times but I was finally able to get it to work. I was hoping for better recording/playback performance. I have tried a few small recordings so far they work well. Need to record a longer file to make sure. Thanks.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
