Sadura,

No, I do not think that this is a better receiver than the AZBox, Linkbox or Manhattan yet.  All I mentioned before, was that it was able to lock the same somewhat weak signal on an NBC Hockey feed as the AZ and the Manhattan.  The AZ Boxes do 4:2:2 signals.  No other consumer set top boxes do 4:2:2, so the AZ Box receiver are a long time favorite of mine personally and I stored a few extra back for myself before selling out.  The Manhattan is also a very good receiver and has many things that I like about it, including a display menu that shows the Modulation of the signals it finds.  The Linkbox is comparable to the Manhattan, but the model I decided to carry, has the ATSC over the air digital tuner for local channels.

The SR1 is new and has a fast blind scan.  It does not do 4:2:2 at this time, but appears that it has not been ruled out as of yet.  So much more testing to do and also the chance for future development.  All receivers brands and software versions offer something different and only time will tell overall what the various receivers are best at and where the short comings are.  Many of us want different things from these receivers, while I want a Satellite Receiver that is fairly easy to use and works well for as many different Satellite signals as possible and at a competitive price.

So opinions will very on the new SR 1, depending on those that use it.  I suspect many will say things to try and damage the reputation of the maker of the unit and aid in the selling of their own brands.  It is a shame that it has come down to these types of tactics, but it is what it is.  The proof will be in the use and how it works overall and so far, I am happy with many things and as a satellite receiver for someone aimed at one satellite, it is a very nice unit and that is basically what it is being marketed for.  With that said, DMSI has also expressed interest in further development to the box and I will do what I can to support that development to make it an even better unit for the hobbyist market.  As I have mentioned before, the hobbyist market is a fairly small percentage of the overall market for this receiver and is also the most demanding and wants the cheapest price.  So there will have to be some give and take.  We just work for and hope for the best overall of all of the receivers and PCI cards and USB receivers that I get the chance to sell.  Much of the hobbyist's support comes from the GREAT People that visit this forum.  The software development by forum members for the PCI cards and USB receivers is a great example of that.

By the way... Happy Easter!

Rick
Thanks Rick.

Yes, I saw it and it sent me a test version.  He told me he had not released it yet, so I had not either.  I will check with him to see if he is ready to put it out for download.

On another issue, if you have a chance, can you try and scan the RTV's on AMC 9 @ 4000 H SR29125?  I had already scanned them in and they play fine from the channel list, but for some reason, my receiver keeps hanging up on that frequency now when doing either a blind or TP scan.  My Quality seems to be good, so not sure what is going on.  My resort to a factory default next, as I have been trying many different things with the receiver and may have caused this issue myself.

Thanks

my actuator arm has been out of service and don't really have much access past 95w cband. That is why I mainly scan 99w and 97w for now on cband.

Hi Mike,

I am trying to get someone to test it on them.  I have a neighbors tree that is still keeping me from seeing AMC 8.  The tree has gotten old and is now starting to die and fall and I offered to go in half with my neighbor to get it cut down.  I am hoping they will go for it.

I know that a couple of others should be getting their SR1's either today or Monday and I beleive they can both see AMC 8.

I finally got around for looking for it and I see it in my menu, but I don't know what it is for.

I have wrote to the company to ask and will see if I get a reply and let you know if I do.

Thanks,

Rick

Fred,

This option is for Card Sharing, where it is legal in some areas of Europe.  As a customer can subscribe to a service legally and then instead of having to remove the Card from one receiver and carry to another receiver, they can connect their various equipment to each other and read the subscription information from the card on their other units.

Since this is not a legal option here, the factory firmware that we supply with the SR1 does NOT have this option, as appears to be the case with the 2nd version of firmware that you have.

Thanks,

Rick

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
