I got two odd popups with Smart today. I have never seen these before. I am not quite sure of their meaning.

Looks like it was executing an SQL query to the smarteit.db database. Are you using the last release or a test/debug version from jack?

I have not switched to the latest release yet. I am still with 0.2.0 official. Not testing anything at this time.

Edit:
I have found that the popup messages  in question are specific to the Indy ESPN feed. I have never seen them before and not on any other feeds tuned today, yet the Indy feed will display the message every time it is tuned testing it throughout the day. It is not important more curiosity than anything else. The feed played fine after acknowledging the popups to remove them.

i have been seeing an extremely quick white box when i open up smartdvb, but,it never stays long enough to give any kind of messages like you have posted.

@chris: looks like some mixup in the following event query, which ofcourse should always result to 1 as there only can be 1 following event, hence that check. Not a breaking bug but one i'd like to know about it as it probably indicates some mixup when filling the eit database somewhere. I'll see about removing those messages, move them to the log as warning and at least cleanup the db so that all remains consistent. Finding the actual bug might be harder as i would probably at least need the same eit data and stream dumps of eit data where this occurs, large enough to be able to replicate those errors.

edit: you could also send me the smartdvb.log after the messages appear. And maybe even after a delete of the smarteit.db to allow for it to populate again (although maybe then the error won't occur anymore have had that happen to me)

Hi guys. I'm busy with the next version. Recently put out a new beta version on the site. Just thought i'd mention it here as there have been some fixes especially in cascaded (diseqc 1.1) switch setups. And i know some people here had problems previously especially in the scanning process. When using cascaded switches make sure you turn the 'send diseqc on each transponder change' option under 'options/diseqc on.

Here's also a download link for an update package for the released 0.2.1 beta 5 on the site (www.smartdvb.net) as some fixes were made already. Simply replace the files in the smartdvb program files directory with the ones in the rar archive.

@vishvish: this dvbworld issue has been fixed (i think you're the same user as on the
smartdvb forum, but just noting)..

I have a rc test build here if anyone here wants to test. Has a blindscanner built in now which i guess needs testing, been tested somewhat but latsest crazycat sdk's have some issues i think (also heard from cjcr). Anyways anyone wanting to look at this drop me a note and i have a download link ready..

hi guys.

I've been busy with smartdvb lately again and the blindscanner and it is running reasonably now. So if anyone still wants to look a this (not all tbs cards have been tested, but 5925 qbox and some others all work it seems) i have a new test available which scans reasonably fast (for me for example i can scan with a prof7500 hotbird 13 including channels 98 frequencies in less than 6 minutes about in my own tests, and only frequencies in about 2 minutes with prof 7500, but your mileage may vary)...

I'll just add the features here as i've not done that here yet..

Blindscanner scans frequences and channels inside smartdvb, you can also scan only frequencies.

Included is a blindscan.dev which will tune inside smartdvb also, it seems it sometimes even picks up low sr. As said before the blindscanner will only work with crazycat streamreader.dll, which will be installed by the installer, but you can replace this with newer version i hope. Lots of other changes inside smart also and have been getting positive comments so far, people seem to like the blindscanner...

so drop me a note if interested,
best regards,
jack

hi,

I've put up a version with the blindscanner (0.2.5 rc1). Has been tested quite a bit so hopefully it's usable.

As mentioned before the blindscanner uses crazycat streamreader.

download it here SmartDVB 0.2.5 rc1

thanks jack,
I've been playing with the earlier release candidate on my windows machine a little bit. Windows isn't my primary OS anymore, but I still find myself going to the Windows machine occasionally to try something in SmartDVB.

I have a question, do you think it's possible to add a checkbox or something that would allow decoding ATSC EIT/ETT when using a DVB-S device?
See link to discussion in the below thread. I think SmartDVB would be one of the only applications to do this if so. It does decode in TSReader. I'll attach a TS sample recorded from a Prof 7500 in that thread if it's useful.

hi majortom  I remember testing atsc with you no? I recall it should decode EIT, but if my memory serves me right ETT was not parsed yet, so my question would be do you actually see some basic EIT info or nothing as i think that already worked in the past so just ETT should be needed? (as it should know it's on an ATSC stream so no checkbox should be needed). But in any case, adding an option to the scanner to always check for ATSC eit tables is ofcourse rather trivial so if that's all that's needed i'll do that..

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
