For those you of who are brave enough to point your 4DTV at the Ku side of F1 Showcase, general entertainment channel is in Free preview this month and you should be able to get. It is in SD and the HD feed will be on F2 but 4DTV wont handle that.\

Also W Network, Teletoon and BBC Earth should be in FP mode and Fiught will be for a month beginning on a few days.

So the risk of going here is the TDT count could max out, right?  And why is a maxed TDT count a bad thing these days?  If I only use my DSR-922 for moving my dish, would a maxed TDT count impact me at all?

All I know is that going there can mess up the maps whihc I have managed to kept intact since they stopped sending them.

I know there is a way to put new maps in it but that is beyiond my abilities and equipment that I own.

I haev a Shaw subsrcipton and Showcase and W are having adverts on other channels saying they are now iin Free Preview mde. I know at one point a 920, 921 or 922 that was once subscribed to something could get any Shaw / Satr Choice Channels taht were in Free Preview mode so thought I would pass the intel along.

I have not gone there with my 920.

I know however that for over a year a couple of premium channels were in free mode, before I got a Shaw subscription.

Each month there is ussually oen ro two things that are in Free Preview.

Usually when Shaw Direct has a “Free Preview” it is set only on their receivers and not on the satellite mux.  So only Shaw receivers will see the free preview.

Can neither confirm or deny that. I do know a number of years ago they launched a lot sseveral dozen, new channels in Canada and all of them were on FREE Prevuew for many months and could get on a 920. But this also caused a lot fo master resets.

The free monthly preveiws are on the anik G1 satellite and the footprint only go's into the US about a 100 miles or so from canada. I just scanned all of F1 & F2 (HD) transponders and they are all 8psk DC2 turbo code signals. I only found 2 channels in FP mode on the F2 sat, at 11928v 20500 2/3 TP-8 turbo code, ANT Odyssey (french audio only) & 11989v 20500 2/3 TP-10 turbo code, TELE (french audio only).

Agree totally with Reb99 from post 5.  Only currently activated Shaw receivers will get the free previews on their system. unless something has recently changed.

I am in the People's Republic of Illinois, about 30 miles south of I80 MM45- SW of Chicago 2 1/2 hour drive.

G1 requires a special LNB and a 4 foot dish. It uses different frequncies than F1 and they are right next to each other. F1 has all the SD channels on it and is normally just shy of 100 on PQ. F2 I have froma 3 foot dish and has the first generation of HD channels on it, this is where Showcase HD would be. I normally get a signal in the upper 80s lower 90s on this. G1 on the other hand has newer HD chanels and ones they have recently offered in both HD and SD, WPIX for example. The transponders on this vary a lot in signal strength. Most are normally around a 70 in quality on a sunny day but some are near 60. You need 50 to get a picture. They do tned to go out via rain fade when the weatehr gets bad.

I know when I was willing to point my 4dtv at F1 there were about 4 or 5 channels in SD that always came in as I am not doing this anymore (in fact I have disconncted the Ku side of my 920 from the dish) I am not sure what is or is not free.

Was just trying to help out.

These are actually in ZK mode.  I can view them on my DVBTech sat card.  Genpix should also be able to view these.

Your correct photoman , i meant to say in ZK mode. My mistake! The F2 Dc2 8psk Turbo is FP.

No worrie's adm222 , to me its all about the chase. The F2 DC2 8psk Turbo FP channels is the first test ive done since i got my Dsr 6050. No prodlem with DC2 turbo here. So on the special LNB that your referring to for G1, is that a universal LO 9.750 - 10.600 By any chance?

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
