I have a Ray Dish going back to 1985. In continuous use on C Band. Never got it to work on Ku. Question #1: Has anyone gotten a 10 1/2 foot RayDx to work on Ku? Anything to share? Five years ago, we had golf-ball sized hail which did the reflector no good. I was able to work the reflector mesh back into shape by hand except for two panels which are still pretty rough. Question #2: I'd like to replace them but don't know who might be selling them. Any suggestions? Thanks Much. Rick Rikoski

There is almost "no" new old stock laying around to buy. All those dish makers from way back are gone as far s making home use sat dishes. The Pros like DH antenna are still making commercial grade dishes. There are no mesh commercial grade dishes out there, just solid in metal and some in glass molded. While there is still some of the metal mesh sheets being made the cost is rather high. You can not find many new parts sources for 30 ear old autos and even less sources for our old sat dishes. Perhaps find another same model dish and just use the best parts from two dishes to build up one good dish. I have the smaller Raydex dish here and the holes appear to big in it for good Ku reception.
I went out in the yard with a sharped lead pencil and the Unimesh has expanded metal like the Parclipse and Raydex but only the Unimesh has smaller holes which work well for Ku. The Birdview dish "with holes" has large round holes not very Ku friendly while two other dishes with a mesh like panel have much smaller round holes and are just fine with ku freqs. They still make most of these metal panels but again the cost is just too high for most of us hobby folks. You need start out with a dish which comes with the smaller holes to get good to great Ku results. I like the Raydex dishes but perhaps not the best choice for Ku without an $$$ investment in better mesh panels. Replacement panels have been seen in the past but rare and much dollars to own and ship them. https://www.google.com/search?q=metal+mesh+panels&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwjwlO6NrPXSAhVEWCYKHT48C6cQsAQIJQ&biw=1291&bih=1307#spf=1 __________________

When I had a Raydx 10.5' dish Ku worked very well on mine. The holes in the mesh weren't very big so it worked well. The old test from way back was if you can fit a #2 pencil through your mesh than it wasn't any good for Ku. The smaller the holes in the mesh the better.

I think the amateur radio handbook or the ARRL antenna book I forget which somewhere...
Says... The holes must be smaller than 1/10 of a wavelength. __________________ Taylors, SC LinkBox 9000i, AZBox Prem+, Fortec Star 90cm with H-H Motor & Invacom (Ku) Linear/Circ 4 output LNBF, 7.5' UniMesh 56" fiberglass Prime feed with invacom SNH-031 (Ku).

depending on how the dish is constructed, ya might be able to remove the damaged mesh panels, straighten them out using a mallet on a flat surface or something, then re-install em. But most of these dishes are pretty old, and the hardware holding them together may be shot too. So ya could easily go from frying pan to the fire.

Have a Raydx here and it is a very nice built dish..Not set up but I see the quality of this dish....What a very nice mount!!!!....The mount in my opinion is worth a heck of alot more than the dish!!!.Have seriously thought about retrofitting the mount for a 1.2 Ku dish.
Already sketched out some drawings for this if anyone wants them. Dough rolling pin works great for old mesh. __________________ Dish`s--10' KTI,10' Button Hook,10' Unimesh x2, 12' Cosmos,8 1/2 foot Birdview in the works. 1.2 Ch Masters parked at 91,103,105...1.2 Ch Master on a factory Ch Master polar mount tracking from 58-127. On a near the same type project I started removing the expanded metal panels from a 12 foot paraclipse dish and still am only half way done with the over 500 wire clips which hold this dish mesh onto the metal ribs. I hope before I expire to bring this dish frame back to life with better quality mesh coverings. I am not getting any younger and I keep finding other better solid glass dishes which need much less work to put back into sat hunting service. Thus I never get the paraclipse dish any further along with the repair work.

Great,never thought about rolling pin!
Got lucky, actually with both my 11 footers, only couple panels in the one got yesterday that is basically out of the slot on one side, but not beat up bad.
The one i already had is the Radyx.Hell of a mount & dish! Got mount & half that was still together mounted today. All stainless or aluminum screws/bolts/mount,etc.Has matching UST-705 i believe. The other one,do not believe is a Radyx. Can see pics i posted of it yestetday. No where near the quality of the Radyx,IMHO. It was worst one i've seen with moss/algea/ or whatever covers these dishes. Hopefully finish getting Radyx up tom. __________________ TRAXIS 6100HD,MicroHD Pro,OpenBox s9,Skybox F3s,2 Skybox F4's,Nexus-S & TwinHan 1030,Neusat SP6000,CNX Nano 2,Nfusion solaris,Pansat 2500a's,Coship CDVB3188C,TRX-1520 UHF,TRX-1800.ORB 5000,TRX-1420,Dishes-2x10.5 Mesh,1-7.5 Mesh,1-10.5 FG,4 Ft CM Ku,6 Charter Dual Linear LNB 1 Meter.
