Well, good ol Busick...I'm about 12 miles or so from there...not far at all.

...and mrbud the pics from HMS bring back a ton of good memories. I spent many Saturday nights there in the 90's...and at Tri County...

RW I just noticed you said you were about 10 miles from Mt Mitchell in the photo. I live only about 15 air miles from Mt Mitchell...where were you exactly?

Sorry it took so long to get back I just missed this the thread.
I was in downtown  Busic, NC about 2 blocks from the fire dept.
At least that's where I stay in a hunting cabin while hunting on private property.

Hello everyone,

I am newly starting to look into this hobby and man... where have I been all these years.

This looks like so much fun. You also seem to have a great community here. All too many times in forums I see silly infighting and my brain is bigger than your brain nonsense. That does not seem to be the case here. I have to say this looks like a great place with many great people that are here to share and help in the joy of this hobby.

I just wanted to introduce myself before I started pouring through the threads here. I will try to read as much as I can first before I start bugging you all with questions.

My actual name is Josh. I am 32 years old. I am married and I have two beautiful children. My son is 8 and my daughter is 6. I live in Kentucky and I have been in networking and computers during my entire professional career working mostly in the telecom industry.

Thank you all so much for developing this community. Beginners like me are sure to find it useful. (I'll try to hunt some photos down)

Welcome Josh. Like you, I wonder what took me so long to get into this hobby. I have been at it for about a year and a half now. I started with a motorized 1m ku setup that I bought from Rick. Since then I have added 2 8ft c-band dishes and a few fixed ku dishes. It's an addictive hobby and this is a great group.

Thanks for joining.  We do have a very nice group of folks that gather here and we all do our best to keep the forum informative and friendly.

This can certainly be an addictive and fun hobby!

Hey there Josh, welcome. You have joined a good forum with a great bunch of people. Rick keeps us all in tow. You picked a good time to get into the hobby with new stream formats, members/developers giving us new software to expand this hobby and Rick staying on top of the hardware end keeping stocked with the equipment we need to view it all. He along with members here are and have worked directly with manufactures to try and keep us as up to date as possible. It is a good place

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
