Actually my wife has been very understanding about the old stuff I've collected, and I think I used the word "convinced" not "told".  She usually asks me questions, like what will or do you use that for, and then if I come up with a rationalization for the need, she's OK with it.  This was back in the analog days or early DCII days, before 8PSK or higher modulations were available to hobbiests. It never occurred to me that there would be Ku transponders that couldn't be received with a 90CM dish, and I thought it was too small for C-band, so I really talked myself into taking it to the dump after she asked me if I was ever going to use some old dishes that had been sitting down below our deck, unused for several years. I basically thought it was overkill and too heavy, so I traded it for smaller dishes that I thought could get everything up there.  [smile]

Most of my neighbors have a wife and "none" of them have any sat dishes in their yards. I rest my case. I got two of "their" sat dishes here now setup in my yard because their "wife" let me have them.  I would be proud to have a few smaller glass molded dishes here.  (rationalization is just a long word for who wears the pants)

You know, most people get rid of things when they have been of no use to them for years. There's always one in every neighborhood who doesn't though, and their house isn't hard to spot.

Anyway, I've always been curious about what that satellite service might have been.  I thought that it might have been an analog precursor to Primestar, but I've never heard any mention of such a thing.  By the time I got into Ku, this service was apparently out of business.

I believe that Primestar started as an analogue service before switching to DC I.

Anyone have an old Alphastar dish??

Thanks Hockeynut,
For sending me the extra Skewable mount for the Primestar 84E. Somehow between Thursday and today I lost the 4 Bolts to bolt it together, so took a trip to "Home Debit", and got some new Bolts for it.
Spent some time in the yard setting it up today.. Kept trippin over one of the test cables I had run out to the
Multiswitch I have hangin off of it, so finally got around to digging a new trench to finally bury it.
If this is any indication, that one weak NBC News feed, 12080 H 30000 on 103 W is reliable now.
That mux was previously failing (mostly sunny today), just prior to swapping the Az/El to your skewable mount..
I owe ya some "stuff" from Buffalo in return[biggrin], look for something in the next week or so.
I'll try and post some snipper snappers with some signals in a few.

I hate to see good sat toys in the land fill that is why I have plans for my extra sat toys and chickens to get married together. I got another slime line dish last night. I am testing with hens now to use as a base for a chicken nesting place.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
