I looked in my /var/cache/apt/archives
to see what all I had installed related to gps...

pi@raspberrypi /var/cache/apt/archives $ ls *gps*
gpsd_3.11-3_armhf.deb  gpsd_3.6-4+deb7u1_armhf.deb  libgps20_3.6-4+deb7u1_armhf.deb  libgps21_3.11-3_armhf.deb  libgps-dev_3.11-3_armhf.deb  libgps-dev_3.6-4+deb7u1_armhf.deb

I just checked here and all of the files are here but they have been upgraded from libgps20 to libgps21. Do a fresh clone and recompile tune-s2.

git clone https://bitbucket.org/majortom/tune-s2

Remove the old tune-s2 in /usr/local/bin

Have no idea when they upgraded but it works now here after recompiling. Thanks for finding it Andy:

I think it's a chipset generation earlier than what the 950Q uses (XC3028L inDtube vs XC5000 in 950Q), as well as a different frontend,
so not surprising.

If you are not having issues like jowski was describing on the pi then I am kinda at a loss what his issue might be since we are all pretty much on the same page with our OS images.

just a note, ya shouldn't have to specify the system, or modulation type as I attempt to take an educated guess, based on the type of frontend connected....

ie sumthin like
tune-s2 17 N 1000

should be sufficient, since the frontend type was reported as an ATSC tuner, there's no need to specify...
likewise for DVB-S(2) tuners, I think I took a guess for that too...
play around and see how it works for you...

I'll check my inDtube again sometime. What was jowski reporting again???

Thanks, that worked like a charm. I had to do it that way in the past and never thought to try it again.

He was getting inconsistent spectrum scans on his pi but not his desktop. Sometimes it would be near flatline in a place where it should be a peak.

I think I snuck that in there when we combined the two programs to one, just never mentioned it[biggrin]

I'll check the inDtube...

The inDtube is definitely broken on the pi image. I am guessing you started with a stock kernel from kernel.org? They have never fixed this center frequency problem that we had fixed in v4l-updatelee...(and they probably never will). I have pointed that out to a kernel developer in the past. The guy said he would submit a patch for it, but of course he never did.

If so, in drivers/media/tuners/tuner-xc2028.c just remove the #if 0 / # endif preprocessor statement/block around this section of code and recompile, that will fix it.. 'IF 0' will never be 'true', so that section of code in between never gets compiled, simple as that...
We fixed this in v4l-updatelee a long time ago, which is why jowski's x86 isn't broken.
Check for that #if 0 / #endif in your tree, and see if it's there. if it is there, that's the problem.

I have two items running on my RPi in updateDVB  is 950Q Atsc ( which scans in 8.7 seconds) and the other is a TBS5922 which UDL recently added and is working to get a decent spectrum scan.
I get the TBS5922 to lock by setting symbol rate to 20000 and then putting the qwt picker on the frequency I want (in this case 12105).

Any how the picture you see is both streaming to my desktopScreenshot from 2015-06-30 19:53:21.png

One at port :1230 and one at port :1231.

One of the things I like about VLC is that you can call up multiple instances.

I think I am going to like this streaming over wired LAN; as I was watching these live videos; I was downloading a file of course that's my desktop.

Now I will check the RPi.

I started with the raspberry pi kernel github. But they are pretty in tune with kernel.org on that. I followed udl's guide after that (a few pages back) with v4l-updatelee and v4l media_build and patched media_build the way in udl's guide. I would think the patch would have picked that up. I will double check tomorrow.

diff -ruP media_build/linux/include/uapi/linux/dvb/ updatelee-v4l-updatelee-9a1493d259ac/include/uapi/linux/dvb/ >> UDL_patch.diff
diff -ruP media_build/linux/drivers/media/ updatelee-v4l-updatelee-9a1493d259ac/drivers/media/ >> UDL_patch.diff

It's not you, Darksky but Linus that's causing the frustration.  Majortom and I were a few of the signees when the inDtube fix was done and now the mainline kernel doesn't like it!  WHAT??? Guess we'll have to change the block, make tuner-xc2028, see how it blows up, and fire off a bluie to Linus.

I don't think we should blame Peanut's characters.  Or if we do, perhaps that little girl who pulls out the football before Charlie kicks it might deserve it.....

sorry, couldn't resist.

Does dvbtraffic work with ATSC? I downloaded dvb-apps for my rpi and I can get dvbtraffic to respond to DVB-S2 but not ATSC.

the new tune-s2 works good but I can not seem to get the ATSC [ch21] to respond. No problem using ATSC by frequency. Tried ch21 [ch21] ch-21 with N 1000 after it.

Just thought of something ......I will go look at the new code maybe the conversion code is missing

Deleted my ramblings found out modules were getting installed; still looking for the problem.

Have you got your new raspberry pi model 2 B on order yet wejones?

I ordered one and it arrived last week.  Haven't played with it much other than your image and loading namachine.

You're right on the media_build being the destination of the patch.  For some reason I remember a reference in the comments to inDtube.  Hmmm...

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
