Stick with the C7 the C3 didn't work as I recall. Still a good possibility the board is fried from contact on the solder points on the underside.

Yes I agree Chris! As I have pulled a working board from one of the known working s2 boards from one of the other 9200`s.of which both were bought from Rick and they work fine in the newly aquired 9200.Just a matter of time before the new board gets here.

Thanks Chris..

I hope Costactc has better results when he gets back to playing with his 9200.

Yes I hope it goes good for him. I suspected he had the jumper hooked to the output but you covered that and he said it is correct. Other then what you covered he needs to check his connections on the board again and power to the pinouts.

Newbie mistake the board is working fine. I didn't realise I had the 20 pin header attached to the tc-1000hd one.

Some old business here:

I've been PM'ing about repairing my 9200HD power supply myself. I've read the "Another 9200 b-07 victim" thread. I know what the parts are and where to get them. But a few questions remain. So I'm posting them here for the group.

I see no bulging in any of my caps, so I guess I'll replace all of them. However, three have a mustard-colored goo that connects the cap to the board. Is this some kind of heat sink? Boomer chose not to replace these. He says that the big one is a noise filter so probably wasn't a problem for powering up. He was successful in his job. Can any of you tell me more?

Also, I was able to remove the CN1 and CN3 straps but the CN2 seems to be soldered into place. I stopped after a few attempts with a small flathead. It'd be easier to work on the board by removing it entirely from the main chassis. What have others done?

Is there any chance that a fuse is my problem. I want to ask all the questions before I get involved in complete part replacement. I've built several Dynaco kits (incl the 400 amp) so I have the basic skills. But I'm not as experienced as some of you. So I'm taking each step slowly.

Thanks.

when I did mine last year, I copied the parts list that Chris provides in post#4 of that thread
and went to a local electronics store (FourAcre) and they had all the parts needed
I didn't have a clue to what I was doing, but figured I didn't have anything to lose
the parts cost me around $35-$40 (I think?)
I then made copies of the photos Chris also provides in post#4
I took the board completely out and went about replacing all the capacitors on the list
low and behold was I in shock when I put it all back together and the Panny worked!
If I can do it, I would think anyone can.......
Good Luck!
Al

Thanks for the reply, Al. I found the parts that boomer listed for under $15 (incl shipping) at digikey. I did a sample order and verified all.

You say you removed the power supply board from the chassis. Boomer didn't. If you did, how did you do it? Some careful prying or a full unsolder of the pins?

I really don't recall, but I'm sure mine wasn't soldered in
I'm thinking a couple of screws and maybe a snap-in or two

I didn't have to force anything

EDIT:
I'm using it right now, searching for college hockey
later I'll take it off the rack and look inside to refresh my memory

CN3 was easy. CN1 required a bit of prying with a small flathead. It's CN2 that's a bear.

That is a very nice fan mod you did there Chris...post #29 in this thread and post #123 in the link! I have a 12VDC fan here that measures 2 3/8 sq x 3/8 thick...I am going to do that mod also.Have been using fans behind the Panny`s but I like your fix much better.

I did a fan, but I used a computer fan (3+") with a plug type for 4 connectors (only two wires though) and inserted it into the same type connector at the board with the HDMI and eSATA from it, which other end goes to the power supply board. then screwed the fan onto the cover at vent holes near the right front (as you face 9200) of receiver.

I have 1217, if you're still looking for f/w
it's in my 9200, I can put it on a flash drive and send it if you like?
I thought I had it stored in the PC, but when I looked I have 1229 stored there
