Just a heads up for those of you who also watch OTA Local programming. As you know the FCC sold off a bunch more of the OTA TV band again and the repac was supost to take around 3 years and go in phases however wonderful T Moble has put up a fund and is paying Stations to vacate early so they can start building out there network soooooo you all can plan on starting to rescan channels as early as October in your gives areas as stations will be moving down the band and you will most likely find some stations back in the low VHF band again and if you purchased one of the mostly UHF only digital antenna it most likely wont work as well once these stations move and stations might have to move more than once if there are any interference issues with the spectrum being so compacted now. We can thank our last president and Mr Wheeler for our public losses of FREE TV over greed in there back pockets. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Take a glance through the nationwide repack results on rabbitears.info and you will see this is not the end of the world!

Click on Repack Channel assignments.

A whopping total of 28 stations out of 2197 nationwide (1.27%) will be moving from UHF to either VHF LO (16 stations) or VHF Hi (12 stations). I don't see that as having much impact to the end user.

What you may notice if you live in between busy markets and are in a fringe area, is that with the tighter frequency reuse it may be a little more difficult to receive weak distant stations.
Should still be cherry where I live, with one less religious channel begging for money to delete from the channel list!

Repack Channel AssignmentsThis tool contains the full set of repack channel assignments. It relates them by READS Rank, Transition Phase, Operator, and in other ways. The rows are color-coded:
  • Light Blue - Repacked within its current band
  • Green - UHF to high-VHF winner
  • Yellow - High-VHF to low-VHF winner
  • Red - UHF to low-VHF winner
  • Gray - Off-air winner, see parenthetical below
  • Uncolored rows - No change in channel
Each row also contains links to some of the other tools mentioned here. (One thing that is not mentioned here is which stations elected one or both channel sharing options. stations going off the air in any case are gray. There were so few stations that did not check one or both options that it did not make sense to include support for a feature that would only exclude 10-15 stations total.)

Skideric, Not sure what it is you are trying to say .
The changes in Montgomery look to be minimal.  Yo do mean Montgomery, AL right?
Before criticizing the work of someone else, I like to imagine myself in their shoes.
What would I do if put in their shoes? I am certain there is nothing I could ever do better.

Does this transition effect LD stations?
We have one in my locals for Macon Georgia that was not on your repack list above?
WMUB LD 38
It's owned by Mercer University Broadcasting and is/was affiliated with France 24 (news) and ASN (last 2 seasons)
I'm hoping it will affiliate with Stadium when it gets going?
Would hate for WMUB to go dark....

The FCC did not allow the Low Power stations to participate in the 600 MHz auction.
Some may be forced to retune finding a new channel at their own expense. Or they could make changes to
technical parameters such as antenna height, power, or even physically move up to 30 miles
from their present location if required to mitigate interference at their own expense.
The FCC will notify them when and if they need to retune.
My understanding is, if they are notified, the FCC will help them to find a new channel using the same
software and approach that was used to repack the full power stations.
So far around here I have not heard of any Low Power Stations being notified by the FCC they have to retune or move.
As neither one of them is currently in the 600 MHz spectrum being cleared, so probably not urgent, like any stations
elsewhere that are presently occupying 600MHz and up.
I think we will know more sometime this Fall.

HN, Click the link provided in Post#2, and select your market. It should produce a report of the From/To
channels/frequencies by Callsign. You Might wanna take a peek at surrounding neighboring markets also, to see if there may be some new Co or Adjacent Channels that you haven't had to deal with in the past. Generally speaking Adjacent Channels are of no concern within the same market.
Just keep in mind it may be difficult to pull an extremely weak distant station out of the weeds when there is a MUCH Stronger Local station adjacent to it.
That'll give ya a full picture of what to expect.

A couple of positive things I can think of are:
1.) If you are extremely close to Cellsites operating at 700 MHZ (like next door close), and have ever used an LTE Filter in your system to keep them frequencies out of your preamp system, once all the channels get moved below 600 MHz, that 700 MHz LTE filter will be much more effective.
Drawback is you'll then have to deal with 600 MHz cellsites (primarily T-Mobile).
2.) Compressing the UHF TV Spectrum will make it easier to design UHF TV antennas.
In essence increasing the gain at the lower frequencies will be easier when you don't need to worry about channels 37 to 51 any longer. The lowest UHF channels is where a lot, if not all, of the current UHF multi-bay antennas struggle the most today.

An example of what I mean by #2 is found here, where holl_ands redesigned his free form 4 bay to the upcoming UHF band.
http://imageevent.com/holl_ands/multibay/4bay/newuhffreeform4baynorefl
http://imageevent.com/holl_ands/multibay/4bay/newuhffreeform4baynorefl?p=3&n=1&m=-1&c=3&l=0&w=1&s=0&z=4

Now, compare that to the Antennas Direct DB4 or CM 4221 simulated without any reflectors. I think both
were originally designed to cover 14-69.

Thanks danristheman. Those are the only 3 we have. About the only thing I watch is the local news, Moma likes Laff and Escape that are WTWO sub channels and Grit and Bounce are WAWV subs . I hope those will still come in cross county from their transmitter.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well.
