Quick question to Me users.  If you go to signal finder and select user defined transponder, do you get constant spinner while trying to input data?  This happens on all images/builds for me.  Took about ten minutes trying to input parameters today.  Every button push, I get a 25 second or so spinner.  Annoying when trying to see if I get a signal on a specific new feed.

@mountaineer
thanks for the logs. The Azplay crash is due to changes in one of the E2 classes imported.
I can send a fix to the maintainer of the old repo (or ask Captain to point to my fork and fix it there).
anyway, attached copiled plugin.pyo with fix. needs to be copied to
/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/AZPlay

you aslo need to run this via telnet. (have sent pull request to get it fixed in oatv 6)

ln -sf /usr/lib/libgif.so.7 /usr/lib/libungif.so.4

AZplay should work after reboot.

Need to look at the logs for the playing the ts. It does play on my Octagon, but not the ME with OATV or HDMU. might need some debug to see what is going on.

I have blindscan util question. I presume you refer to the blindscan menu in the Setup /Service Searching menu?
there is a oe-alliance Blindscan plugin and then there is the Azbox-Blindscan util. Both seem to be installed, but no idea how you use one over the other and how they compare..

outstanding...azplay now works...sort of. it will play the ts files easy media would not...however it will not play the 422 recording of 25 minutes that easy media will...strange but we are much closer!  Thanks!!!!

any other samples one player will play and the other won't. please upload.

Actually I found a recording snippet on my hdd that doesn't play either. Will try and debug the reasons and maybe we can fix.

one thing is for certain at the moment. only Azplay can play WMV files. (as it bypasses the buggy driver and uses Sigma libraries directly) i havn't work out whether there is a bug in the driver or WMV just not implemented.. WMA works..

has recording of CBS ever worked? i presume its same on ME and miniME. (as in not working..)

you are recording to internal HDD?
from the log I/O is busy..
This might be combination of the box struggling (due to RAM, low number of buffers) and mount options not great...

can you post output of this command:
Quote:
cat /proc/mounts

EDIT: and i've looked at the log for the not playing recording. There is probably some driver bug getting in the way to identify the transport stream properly. I'll see if i can find out what is wrong and whether iI can find a hackaround..

On the minime it is recording to an external HDD. It did work on the ME in one image..I will find the thread and post it.

Thanks!!!!

http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/any-fw-to-record-cbs-6456254?highlight=recording+cbs&trail=15

here is the thread....you can see most of the info and my limited success and failures as well as others. Hope this helps.
My guess is that as E2 images have progressed and "grown" so has the memory it uses...whic leaves little to no room for very high bit rate feeds of 35000 kbits and higher. Maybe you can find a feed with that bit rate over in Europe and see what it does....Me seems to like recording better than minime as ithe me has internal HDD and more memory.

Maybe you can have an external HDD on your ME and load it up with plugins to get flash mem down to about 18...that is where Mini is on your build....not at home to check out actually memory that is free. something like 11000 or so.

thanks. so its not a new problem.. i doubt its something fixable tbh.

yes, external HD on the miniME. - forgot it has no internal HDD. But you're not trying to record to NAS. (there were a few posts on recording to NAS on openpli forum , which is where the mount question came from.

EDIT:

re swap, yes you can try... with formatted USB stick *512MB and up.. presume its mounted to /usb/
Quote:
# Create swap - of=<path to swapfile> count=<Size of swapfile in MB>
# No worries, this might take a few moments
dd if=/dev/zero of=/usb/swapfile bs=1M count=512
# apply permissions
chmod 600 /usb/swapfile
# Format file as swap
mkswap /usb/swapfile
# activate swap
swapon /usb/swapfile
# STB to mount swap. that works via /etc/fstab Entries
echo -e "/usb/swapfile \tswap \tswap \tdefaults \t0 \t0" >> /etc/fstab

Thanks!

you would think it would produce a bad FULL recording, however it just stops recording...on the latest one in less than 2 seconds. Hopefully you can find a similar feed ... high bit rate over there and reproduce the findings and see if there is something fixable...because it did work in the 2.6 kernel.

maybe you could produce a stripped down or LITE FW that will have more free memory and we can test it. Is that a possibility?

Again cant thank you enough!

The oatv team did mention plans for a light version of the image, but that just never happened.

first i'll try to get the bottom why the recording doesn't play.

Do you think it could be the G streamer? just a thought.
Also I thought it would just pass thru the TS stream and record it..is that not the case? It would seem that would use little to know recources or memory...not sure how it works....what it does record plays fine .. but to only record for 2 seconds and stop or at most 1 to 2 minutes...seems like something is going on. Anything I can do to help please let me know!

not using gstreamer for that..
the question  really is what causes the recording to stop. is it the I/O problem , is it running out of RAM and killing the recording to free up memory.. unlikely after 2 sec.
and you can record lower bitrate 422 streams ?
Kernel 2.6 images working - lets not start thinking how much the driver has changed (not for the better) since then...  and that this will never change...

Hi, you would not have one of those .ts files and an associate .meta file.
I think the code heavily relies on the meta file to pull PMT and other data from.
When the meta file is not there, the discovery of the relevant data from within the TS seems to be hit and miss.
It would be important to understand whether the playback fails even with the .meta file.
I can break playback of ts files, by renaming the associate meta file.

Having said that, the file you uploaded plays on my other box (other openatv version) will retest with same image , but the drivers seem to play some role in this somewhere - but haven't figured out where.
