Have spent time getting an old laptop back into service, by installing an older Linux distro that it had worked with fine in the past.  Using Firefox 17 for a browser.  It is having issues connecting to the site.  Can connect to the sales site, but get this message when trying to connect here:

The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading

Have tried wiping the cache, etc to no avail.  Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why the forum would not load but it's possible the old browser doesn't work with new code.  You may be able to upgrade the browser in the old distro or you may be able to install a new distro on the old laptop.  You may need to select a distro that has a more light weight default desktop environment if your laptop has little RAM.

Well, figured it out.  Went and tried on an old desktop with same setup.  It came up fine, but when I went through a VPN it failed.  Came back to laptop, disconnected from VPN and cleared cache, and this is being written from the problem laptop.

EDIT:  This is from newer computer and OS, going through a VPN.  Same VPN, by the way.  So, it is something to do with the older OS and Browser communicating through a VPN.  Funny, that it only happens here, but that is the way the cookie crumbles when you decide to not be a follower.

I have an old HP laptop from 2004 that has 256 mb ram and no hard drive.  I found a version of Precise Puppy that works well booting from the cd rom drive.  So I was able to get some use from the old pc.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
