To night I got on the "way back machine" and hooked up to C Span. Been some time for me to watch an NTSC signal. I do have a tote full of vhs tapes all of course filled with NTSC data.

This is a reason to keep an old sat receiver around just to watch this one channel. Analog tv signal, the way tv should be! Life was simple in the analog days.

When I was younger I had more hair and a smaller waist line. I would  go back any day for that! But yes we can throw away those analog only devices now I would guess.

It is true that analog only gave us 24 channels from most normal sats per position above. How simple dish alignment was with analog. Even very weak signals could still be received with sparkles in the picture. Digital and Devil both start with the letter D. You may have to make bad deals with one to get the other one to work for you. All those old analog only receivers still have that one channel. Enjoy it while it lasts.

There is some enigma based receivers that can auto tune a dish also by way of Diseqc commands and a Vbox or Gbox.My Vu can do this.

Yes, dish alignment was easy. I think the analog signal were wider than the digital. My first dish in the late 80s, I found the feed by turning the dish by hand. Now you have to get the dish where you think it's close and find a active channel with the actuator. Back then you would put an active channel on and turn the dish by hand and would bump into a signal. It would start out as static and then clear up as you got right on it. Then you tightened down your dish and found the rest of the sats with your actuator. Those were the days. Much easier to find a signal in the Analog days.

Back then I would use the VCII diagnostic counters to tell when I was really peaked.
Also have one of them auto peaking Toshiba RCVRs which i never used.

NTSC = never the same color.

As a vintage gamer, PAL trounced it in quality. How did they survive the mandatory change?

I'd pass on this as well.

We must remember here in the US of A first we had just B&W and when color came along the signals need be back wards friendly. So we got what we got with what they had at the time. It was still glass tubes and high voltage power sources to make it work. My first color tv was in 1966. Today it is like space aliens came to visit us and give better parts to build from. Now we have tv sets (4K) and no program content has yet caught up to be played on them. (remember all the cameras at the recent super bowl and no signal of that quality into our homes, yet) My audio never broke up in the NTSC days of tv. Digital tv transmission still lacks much from what the past tv days offered. Oh well so it be.

I still remember buying a pong tv connected analog tv game. I still have early 4K of ram computers in the closet.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
