Hello,

i have some informations regardind HDMI problem with openbox s10 and like to share with You.

Namely there is 10 months as HDMI output stopped to work on my openbox s10 - everything else working fine.

I bring my openbox to service and I get information that PN521 HDMI controller is faulty and should be replaced.

I buy PN521 chip and replaced by still can not get picture on HDMI output - maybe it is a problem with other part.

I continue to use my openbox via RGB inputs - cables.

If somebody has experiences witih that please write.

Best regards

Alexander

Alexander,

You might take a very close look at the pins on your HDMI cable, and inside the sockets they plug into at each end. These are very small delicate pins and can get bent or broken easily.

Gives me something to look into one of these days...

I haven't looked inside to confirm yet, but here's a datasheet for what I think is that IC.

Hello,

i forgot to mention that after i change PN521 chip i noticed that after more restarts (5-7) when receiver boot up i gот about 2-3 seconds info on TV that mode is not supported and after that no signal.

I tested receiver just after I changed HDMI chip and boot up maybe 20 times and as remember "mode is not supported" appear maybe 2-3 times.

After that I use receiver on composite - cable output in RGB mode with 567i resolution and has not test HDMI from this time.

!!!  Maybe this info can give input to someone to replay and give solutions and answers to get signal on HDMI.

This is to Pixl:
I have not take very close look at the pins but if I do this i should do on HDMI connector on receiver because i use HDMI cable on other receiver and it works which mean that it is not problem with cable - but I think that is not pins problem - maybe it is problem with main controller which send signal to PN521.

This is to Majortom:
Because past 7 days from Your last post please share info did You test something and did get any results - if You get negative results please inform us also to know/

Best regards and awaiting for Your kind replay and solutions

Aleksandar

Looks like I am also a victim of the HDMI port not working.  My S10 only flickers the screen when using the HDMI port on power up.  Any new info or advice on this topic?  Thanks.

just an update, before I forget about it...
I finally got around to digging up a replacement for that HDMI interface protection IC, PN 521 a few weeks ago....
The ol shotgun approach... Grabbed some chip quick and went to town...
I used the small USB microscope to make sure I made no mistakes.
It was a no go also just as Aleksander reported.
The S9 has been relegated to the basement, while I play with one of them Android STBs from china...

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
