first of all hi to everyone on here....i like a few of you have just got myself open box s10 i have read with interest about the thermistor and psu fixes i hope i can order these parts ok here in the UK...
i like the receiver but the hdmi has never worked from day 1
it works well on composite outputs..also mine does switch off and comes up no signal after about 30 mins use ..i guess the above will fix this issue..but regards the HDMI i have no clues unless these problems are related?
as far as i understand the hdmi part there is a hand shake then the port comes active...my lg lcd tv knows when the open box is switched on as the hdmi 1 port on tv shows up but then says no signal...ive tried all the various settings in system yuv rgb etc diff resolutions all to no avail..i will watch with interest on these forums as there are alot more techs on here..
best regarsd for now...

mastercare,
let us know how you make out finding parts.
The HDMI worked fine here on the S9 for about a year, it then started getting intermittent, and then finally quit a month or so after first going intermittent. I also use it with an LG TV. I doubt the TV has anything to do with the problem.

I  have an openbox s10 and after about a year I started having problems with the hdmi, I would have to reboot a couple of times for it to shake hands with the tv and then it stopped being a problem for about a couple of weeks and then suddenly went out completly, has anyone tried new firmware ??

My S10 did the same thing...worked great for a year or so, then the HDMI just went "south".  It came back a couple of times but the next reboot would result in a black screen.  Gave up and bought another Openbox16.  Haven't had the problem on this unit, but it's still young.  Like everybody always says, "It's probably something simple..hehe."  Oh yeah, I don't think the firmware fixes it, but give it a whirl anyways..wish it would...

I have the same problem with my Openbox s10.

Before 1 months i put usb to update c line and after that i have problem with HDMI.
First i have not HDMI signal and after few days i get and receiver work good about 1 week and after that the same - no signal on HDMI.
This happens 2-3 times and finally in last few days i have not HDMI signal and i think that HDMI will not work again and it is totally dead.

I know that the solution is new HD receiver but if somebody has any experience about this it is good to write some solution of the problem.

thanks

hi
the second receiver i bought was dead when i bought it...so after looking at psu i found a few caps that were suspect  so i changed them for new..i then did the ic mod which increased the current output on the psu..this cures the ch drop out and rebooting problems..
so this recever when i tested it at perfect HDMI output...the org one still has no hdmi so the problem is def on the main board...
hope this answers your questions..
cheers paul...

Thank You for fast replay.

According to Your experience and answer the solution to have HDMI is only to buy other HD receiver because the problem with Openbox is with the main board which can not be repaired and HDMI can not work again.

PS: Before I had totally dead HDMI about 1 month i had HDMI rarely - i had HDMI 3-4 days and after that next 3-4days I have not and again the same and after 1 month hdmi totally stopped.

Question: Do I can change some element in power supply so can get HDMI to work becuase HDMI rarely working according to me is changes of element characterstics - maybe capacitors or ....

thanks

best regards

Aleksandar

hi again
well you ask a good question.. i still dont know what is causing the lack of HDMI output but i do know that the power supply diid not cure mine..i even swapped it from the secondhand  one i bought to prove it...
< the one i bought that was dead> it does seem to be a common problem as reported by alot of other owners of this box... some work for a while others have never worked its def a weakness in the open box..i suspect it is the interface chip to the hdmi output that is defective as the rec is fine in all other operations also composite video is fine..if i find out anymore i will post on the forum..but i would suggest like me find a cheap one on Ebay thats dead and just swap your psu over it just unplugs very easy job..
cheers paul
