Sorry about that Archie.

I did some house cleaning on my google drive a couple of days ago. It was in a mess. I guess it got deleted by accident. I am organizing my folders better so that will not happen again.

There had been quite a few updates to the OpenElec 6.0 / Kodi 16.0-BETA2 since I had posted the last one. I compiled it here for my rpi2b overnight and tested it before I compiled for the Wetek. The Wetek image is is compiling right now. I am cross compiling it using my desktop and laptop as a cluster but even doing this it will take about 6 hours to do because every program in the image is compiled from source code. It reminds me of when I compiled Linux From Scratch about a year ago ( LFS ).

I will post the new link this afternoon when done instead of uploading the old image again.

Wondering which rpi do you have and how did you kill it.

I guess you know OpenElec is an embedded os. There is really not much in it for other things involving using linux; just enough to make OpenElect run. The 2 system partitions files are read only. Only the Storage partition is writeable.

OpenElec is short for " Open Embedded Linux Entertainment Center ".

Also are you planning to use a ATSC or DVB device with OpenElec on the Wetek?

Archie:

Well you did not completely kill it if it got better.

Were you using my custom turn key Raspian image I made with UDL's modules and with updatedvb in it?

Here:

http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1289494791&postcount=249

And if you have the new ATSC 955Q it's additional module is here:

http://rickcaylor.websitetoolbox.com/post/show_single_post?pid=1289496149&postcount=251

Which TBS qbox is it? I do not have a TBS but I thought All of the compatible drivers for UDL's work were included with UDL's modules install.

UDL would know if it will work or not with his programs.

I see 5921 firmware in /lib/firmware but it is not enabled that I can see to make it's modules in UDL's .config file. Do not know if it has to be done manually in menuconfig or UDL's kernel does not support it. If it is not supported with UDL's kernel then his updatedvb will not support it either.

Sounds like either you sdcard has gone south or you need to re-install my rpi2b image again if it works with the stock raspian image. Be sure to un-pack the file before writing to the sdcard. The file name should end with .img for writing.

Have no Idea what version to version is safe to upgrade from and to. Need to back up sdcard before applying this upgrade file to be safe. This will be version 8 and OpenELECT latest on their download is version 7. I could not readily find an info.

Thanks Ray!
I've downloaded the files and have decided to get another microSD card instead of overwriting one of the ones I already have. I thought I had an extra one to use, but I can't find it. If my old memory serves me correctly I think I gave that extra card to a cousin who was looking for more space for her cell phone to be able to store more music in the phone. Anyway I'll get a couple more cards the next time I get to town.
Thanks Again!

Al

Try to get a class 10 sdcard. The slower speed cards slows thing down.

Also:

I saw the toolchain / scripts to build an OpenELEC image for the WeTeK Core if any one here has one and wants an image.

Ray, Thanks for doing this! I've had it on the sd card for a couple of hours now. The lay-out is so different I've been lost for most of the past 2 hours. It was over an hour before I came across the right place to set the correct time. So far it keeps failing when trying to load the ESPN3 app. Also some other apps fail to load (such as Hallmark, Syfy and NBC Sports), strange since they work fine on the old image? Some other apps loaded just fine. Now I need to go over to WETEK and watch some video's on setting up TVHeadend. Hopefully I won't have to much trouble with it, since I've done it before. It does work on my old image, so I know I've got it to work before. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks Again!

Al

Al:

I was the same way trying to figure things out. I belive it would have been better if I had no knowledge of the previous version. I think that got in my way.

No third party apps will work on kodi 17 unless you enable "Unknown Sources" in the add-ons settings:

From the Main Menu highlight (not click) on Add-ons on the left side of the screen
Move your mouse over to the right in the new window and in the upper right hand part of the screen there are 2 icons. Click on the grear icon.

On the new window highlight Add-ons and move the mouse to the right and enable "Unknown sources"

Also you have to enable third party add-ons manually if you have not done it.

From the Main Menu highlight (not click) on Add-ons on the left side of the screen
Move your mouse over to the right in the new window and in the upper right hand part of the screen there are 2 icons. Click on the box with the arrow instead of the gear in add-ons
Next screen click on My add-ons ---> All

Find your add-ons and make sure there is a check mark next to it. If no check mark click on the add-on and on the next screen click on enable. After that you can configure it there also at the same time if needed.

When enabled correctly the add-ons with their icons will show up off the main menu when you move your mouse down to the Add-ons tab on the left.

Official addon modules:

The official addons file above contains all of the kodi offical addons with the correct API for kodi 17. Since I compiled the devel branch the addons in the repo accessed from with in OpenElec will not work; they have an older API.

After you go through the automatic resize you can put the sd card back in your desktop and unzip the official-addons.zip file in the root partition of the ext4 partition.  Or you can scp the zip file to the /storage directory via scp and unzip kodi-official-addons.zip. When unzipped they all will be under a directory named "official-addons" where you can navigate to in kodi after choosing "Install From Zip File" in the kodi menu and choose the addon zip file you want. The only addon I have ever installed is the pvr.hts for tvheadend.

To install from zip file:

From the Main Menu highlight (not click) on Add-ons on the left side of the screen
Move your mouse over to the right in the new window and in the upper right hand part of the screen there are 2 icons. Click on the box with the arrow.

The next screen:

Click on "Install from zip file:
Navigate to the "official-addons" directory ad click on it. There will be many directories now (since you unziped the master zip file as mentioned above). Locate pvr.hts directory (for example) and click on it and choose pvr.hts-3.4.6.zip.

For tvheadhend it is in an OpenELEC unofficial repo (can not remember the exact name) and it has to be (I think installed) and enabled first before you can install their tvheadend in it.

Thanks Ray, just saw this and it's after 2:50 a.m. will come back tomorrow after I return from my deep sleep.
Been messing with the new image since late afternoon, switching back and forth between the new and old trying to figure what's different?
No luck so far, but looking at the info above, I feel better about my attempts tomorrow.
Also, I don't have a clue about the automatic resize of the sd card you mention above for the official addons file. Will definately need some help with that?
Thanks Agian!

Al

Edit:
What I'm missing is likely in those addons?
maybe.....?

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
