let me dig up some  old pics, I'll post a new thread in the antenna/hardware forum if there already isn't
one specifically dealing with primestar antennas.

sounds like you either need to do some alignment or need a larger antenna.
still the same as yesterday on the little primestar 84e, despite gloomy weather today.

As strange as it seems, I can lock on to the NC feeds, but not the NBC MUX. I can scan the NBC MUX when I do
a blind scan.

On a interesting note during the summer the NC feeds Single was weak and Video and audio was chopping, but received full power in August . I was also some what able to get the NBC MUX.

Could be water or corrosion or other damage in your coaxial cable or LNBF that is acting like a notch filter or adding interference for the frequencies that are giving you trouble

While I can lock these two no problem, there is only about 1/2 dB of margin.
So they are obviously a bit weaker than the main NBC Feeds are..
If you wish to receive them reliably, with some margin, either get out in the yard and fine tune your existing antenna, or get a bigger one.

What's so wierd about it? I don't understand the confusion.
Happens all the time, nature of the beast.

There is presently no signal at 12146 H 4600, but that doesn't mean at the time you scanned it last that there wasn't. On this satellite there are lots of feeds coming from the field via sat trucks, etc at that symbol rate. They are called DSNG services or digital satellite news gathering...
They come and go at various frequencies all day long as reporters are out in the field, doing their job.
99.9% of them are not permanent.
Take a look for yourself.

By the time I got done typing this, a weak signal popped up at ~12145 MHz. So as I said they come and go all day long.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
