Just a quick heads up for anyone with a TBS6905 card that uses the standard TBS drivers, you might want to skip the latest tbs-linux-drivers_v160405.zip package because it causes the TBS6905 to incorrectly identify as a TBS6908 and then the tuners will not work, at least not in TVHeadend.  Going back to the previous tbs-linux-drivers_v160219.zip package fixes the problem.  Or at least that is my experience on my system running Ubuntu Server 14.04.

The TBS6905 tuners identified incorrectly when using "dmesg | grep -i dvb" from the Linux command line, so it wasn't just a TVHeadend issue.

The 6905 and 6908 are identical minus the fact the 6908 uses the professional demod vs consumer grade. The functionality of the two demod at a driver level is exactly the same.

They've as far back as I've checked always used the same code.

The tuner doesn't work at all, or it just shows up in the dvb inputs as a different card with no configuration?

It doesn't work at all with the TBS6905 tuner inputs - TVHeadend just times out.  In one case I saw just a flash of very garbled picture from the tuner before it froze.  Going back to the earlier drivers made everything work normally.  I'm not discounting the possibility that there might be multiple issues in this build, all I know is that the tuners correctly identify as TBS6905 tuners in the previous build and they work properly, whereas in the newest driver build they identify as TBS6908 and they don't work.  Obviously the "not working" part is much more significant than the mis-identification.

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
