hmm, seems like your running the stock kernel from ur Ubuntu distro?
I am wondering if you had installed the proprietary TBS drivers on that kernel, prior to doing anything else? If so, that is the driver that cannot be cross compiled because it's not 100% open source (partial binary blob).

3.13.0-65-generic
That's your kernel version, which shouldn't have support for that device, by itself.

OK cool. so now you have UDL's kernel... it doesn't have support for the tbs5922se yet, but Now you can try to patch it like I did (but no way to test here) to pull in support for 5922SE...
save this file in the v4l-updatelee directory, and try applying this patch.

patch -p1 < patchfile

where patchfile is tbs5922se.patch

If the patch applies with no errors, you can compile it...
'make menuconfig'
and select the new tbs5922se to enable it in the .config
(see my screenshot of menuconfig a page or two back)
'sudo make modules'

'sudo make modules_install'

reboot

I think now you will need to copy the tbs5922se fw file from the proprietary tbs5923se driver to
/lib/firmware directory

I think I downloaded this from the tbs site

I assume that means it is all there. Success maybe?
If it is success....my son will be here today to visit...he works with linux...any tips on how we cross compile into SH4 .... want to do it for optibox raptor....octagon sf1028P...running HDMU E2....if that cant be done then maybe for Mips/sigma Azbox me/mini?

Thanks guys!

Do the boxes themselves have a way to compile in them...I telneted in to ME and tried gcc command and no go...is there another way? I have all the files needed on a usb ready to load them in or find a cross compiler...any help is appreciated...made great progress today.

I don't know much about it. Searched around for a bit, maybe you need something called "makefile-2.1"  for azbox
I sent you a pm to a link, didn't know if I could post it. or if that helps at all?

Where you left off several months ago was, you were going to test the 5922se driver patch on a PC
in linux, using v4l-updatelee to see if the driver even functions.
Plugging the device in and looking at the dmesg/kernel log as ya plug it in, really isn't a very good test.
You will want to run it through it's paces. Does it tune all the various muxes? Does Diseqc switching work?
Does it provide the proper DC voltage for switching polarity? Can you play something you have tuned?
Lets see it in action...

I applied the patch and tried to compile and got this:
leon@leon-p6803w:~/v4l-updatelee$ sudo make modules
[sudo] password for leon:

*** Execute 'make' to start the build or try 'make help'.

leon@leon-p6803w:~/v4l-updatelee$

I believe it didnt pull in the c and h files in order to compile...I looked for them but they are not in v4l-updatelee file....I think the 5921 is what I need or not? Anyway do I need to pull those files from tbs drivers page or do not want to use those?

Thanks!

Mountaineer, Did you get it fixed? Or can you post all the steps you  do after you get to UDL's kernel installed
I dont have that card, but I'll try it!!
If you post your steps it might help someone see what you missed too, Thanks

Edit: Usually when I see "No rule to make" like this, Make needs a header file like "tbs5922se.h" so it knows what to
do with #defining things and #includes .

"make[4]: *** No rule to make target 'drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/tbs5922se.o', needed by 'drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/dvb-usb-tbs5922se.o'.  Stop.

"Searching" around  I don't think there is such a file called  "tbs5922se.h

?? So Make must need something else? to tell it what to do with  tbs5922se.o

But post your steps you do anyway.[smile]thanks

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
