Because of Bogie i have learned a ton in a night. Here is how to install the prof or genpix and use them with ME. I think almost all E2 images will have these files so it should work on Openatv, HDMU etc. This is the easiest way I have found and I dont think it needs modding of any type (will probably regret writing that) EDIT :  Also this should work with minime...although I have not tried it.

For Prof:
1. Install this fw in directory  lib/firmware. Change the ending from .txt to .fw first.
(file is at bottom of post)

2. in your image Go menu, and go to either plugins....or to software. In Plugins you need to go to software management plugin. Then to advanced...and then packet management. It will load and list a bunch of packages. 100's of them. It will take a while to load them and you will get spinning wheels, but it is working on loading them not freezing your box. The ones that have color beside them you have loaded in your box...the ones that dont are not loaded. You can scroll down by the arrow up and down button on your remote which takes for ever to get half way down the list....or much easier and I had to learn this the hard way...use the numbers on the remote. 9 takes you about 1/4 down the list 6 and 3 a little less. Then use arrows to move up or down one at a time.

Anyway about half way down the list you will come to a part of the list that has "kernel Modules" this is where you will find the files for this device there are 3 files (edited from 2) ...find  Kernel-Module-STVO900  Load it. It will ask you if you want to reboot answer NO. This will return you to the top of the list. Use 9 on your remote to get back to same place quickly. Then load Kernel-Module-ST STV0900 Frontend. Again it will ask if you want to restart: NO. Then 9 down to the following file   Kernel -Module-dw2102(this one is up the list quite a bit from the other two files) . Again answer NO to restart. Exit all the way out back to viewing TV.. using exit button. Attach Prof by usb cable. Then Menu ... and restart the box. If all went well when box boots back up...press menu. system.. service searching.. tuner setup. Two tuners will be listed...the first is the azme tuner...below should be prof. Setup prof sats etc. Then menu setup ...customize...it should have a setting as to which tuner to use ....default....A...or B... prof is tuner B. Press green button to save...and then go to a sat and see if it tunes with prof. most skins list which tuner they are using. Play with settings in customize to use which tuner you want. You may want to use prof to watch and record certain sats while you watch others with aztuner or vice versa. Also some images have a setting to record with a certain tuner you can play with that as well in the customize area.

(Edited and corrected above: need 3 files)

2. Genpix. Follow the same steps as above in prof to get to packet list. use number 9 to get back to Kernel-Module list about half way down. The genpix file is quite a bit above the STVO900 one. You are looking for Kernel-Module-dvb-usb-gp8psk.  Load it.  It will ask if you want the machine to reboot.....NO. EDIT You will need one more package located right below or near the first one. 9 back down to the above file then look for dvb-usb-gp8psk-Kernel Modules Driver for Genpix DVB-S. Load it. No to reboot. Exit all the way back to watching TV. Attach Genpix by usb. Menu and restart the the azbox. The genpix should be listed as second tuner . Set it up with sats etc.

To scan and view DVB-S stations do as normal.

To scan and view turbo 8psk.....need to manual scan sat. input transponder info....make sure to first set it as DVB S2 ...8psk. Then change it to DVB-s so it will retain the 8psk setting but not list it on the screen. Scan. Channels should load in. View them.

Now the problem with genpix is that once you use the az tuner then go back to genpix...the genpix will tune but not show video or audio. Also the  Genpix will not be able to tune back to the turbo 8psk channels because it will have "lost" the 8psk setting in DVb-S. You will need to restart the box to get the genpix showing video again. You will have to repeat above to scan the channels back in. Edit...You may try to just restart enigma to get video back...but will have to probably rescan any turbo 8psk channels in to watch them.

A good place to test this is with Velocity on 110.

3. There are packaes for may other tuners there. If you have a diffrent one it may be listed..but I have not tested it. But you may want to try it and post results. STVO90X is there which I think you use for TBS cards though not sure...and it may need more than one package and the others I would not know about...but someone with a TBS card may be able to tell.

I'm sure this will need to be edited...but once done and all questions answered and quirks worked out..maybe we can make this a sticky.

Hope this helps.

The Genpix will not do turbo Qpsk or DCII when using it with the AZME or Minime. If someone with linux skills can edit the .fw file to make the genpix tune the following we can get more out of it;

1. DVB-S stays the same....DVB S

2. Turbo 8psk needs to be changed to where it gets tuned by DVB S2  8psk setting instead of dvb-s 8psk.

3. Turbo Qpsk gets tuned by DVB S2 qpsk setting. Currently it cant be tuned.

I do not have these skills. I have attached the Genpix FW file . Change the .txt to .fw and then you can look at it or edit it.

thanks to anyone that can do this.

The file is an ELF binary file.  You will need the source code to be able to modify the file.  It will need to be modified and then compiled on a Linux system.

The genpix will play the turbo 8psk. The problem is that in order to get it to play turbo 8psk the E2 transponder settings must be set to      DVB-S  8psk. There is no such animal and therefore that setting will only stay in place until genpix is not used. then that transponder will not be recognized as DVB-S 8psk and the Genpix when used again will not play it.

So in order to get Genpix to work transponders in E2 it must be set to DVB S  8psk which disappears because it is not a true setting. We need the driver for genpix...which ever model....to "turn on" turbo mode in E2 with DVB S2 8psk transponder setting instead...which is a true transponder setting and will "stick".

Since the genpix does DVB S Qpsk as Normal Qpsk then there is no setting for a transponder to activate Turbo QPSK. We need the driver to activae turbo Qpsk with DVB S2 Qpsk setting.

So to recap

                       Now  E2 TP setting                                            NEEDED
S-Qpsk           S Qpsk                                                               No Change needed

Turbo Qpsk      NONE                                                                DVB S2 Qpsk

Turbo 8psk      DVB S 8psk  (loses info after tuner not used)        DVB S2 8psk

DCII                NoNE                                                                Not Possible without                                                                                                      new TP setting in E2

I hope this explains it better. No matter what Genpix You use unless it recognizes DVB S2 8psk as Turbo it will not keep turbo settings for a transponder. You can SCAN AND WATCH Turbo but it will lose the settings once you restart the box or switch to the normal AZ tuner.
Think of it like this with digital OTA ATSC....when you turn your TV on you scan in the channels  8, 8.1, 8.2  10, 10.1,10.2. When you turn the TV off or change to another input to watch DVD or something ...and then turn back to watch OTA ATSC...the TV has lost all the  Dot channels like .1  .2   .3 (Turbo 8psk)and you have to rescan them back in. As long as you dont turn the TV to some other input you can watch those channels...as soon as you use another input or turn the TV off it loses them again and they must be rescanned back in to view them. Now the normal Ch 8, 10, 12 etc stay in place  (DVB S).
That is how the Genpix is treating the turbo 8psk channels/TPs  because it recognizes them and turns them on only if they are labeled DVB S-8psk which is not a true setting.

If we can modify the FW for the device to have the turbo mode "kicked on" with S2 8psk instead of S-8psk the problem will be solved. Now if it can be done I dont know....

I think device driver 'firmware' is normally created in assembler by the device developer/mfr
and provided as a binary file for later execution by the hardware when the driver loads and 'uploads it' to the hardware.
Firmware files are rarely changed/updated.

driver modules on the other hand are updated from time to time as you well know.
Not familiar with the device at all but it sounds like the frontend driver is probably where your issue lies.
That, or the E2 application is broke on the application side.

Do you have linux on a pc? You can try to install E2PC which runs Enigma2 on an X86 PC.
See if ya can figure it out there?

No luck with TBS5925.

OpenATV 4.2 does not show Kernel-Module-ST STV0900 Frontend anywhere in the list, so it is only possible to find and install the other two files.  Neither OpenRSI and OpenSpa contain entries for any of the three files in their lists.  My goal was to see if TBS5925 (USB) would show up as a tuner in any of my three boot[0-2] installations.  I did copy the dvb-usb-tbsqbox-id5925.fw for this tuner found in UpdateLee's v4l-updatelee to /lib/firmware/ in all three cases.  While the .fw file found in UDL's application may be incorrect for this purpose, the most obvious problem seems to be the lack of the "Kernel-Module-ST STV0900" in the list of kernel plugins.

rempfer,

I'll try to check here in a minute. Can you or do you want to try and install HDMU on one of your partitions? I know it is in it. I'll check and get back to you.

I just looked in OPENATV and I think they combine the two stv0900 files into one. At that file it says frontend as well in the description below it.

Also I think you need the stv090x  for the TBS cards instead and I think it is one file for both as well in OPENATV ...the descriptor below the file name says frontend.

may want to try that one instead of stv0900

It did appear that OpenATV has combined them, yes.  I did install stv090x AND the stv0900, thinking the correct one would be selected automatically -- do you suppose that was the problem?

I know you didn't indicate that the TBS tuners would certainly work, and I am running OpenATV 4.2 (not 4.3) if that matters.  I have not heard of HDMU, but would try it (especially if it uses the same kernel) on my boot [0]

Thanks for your research and help.

I dont think it would be a problem.....but????

try the HDMU image....it uses same 3.92 kernel.

http://www.hdmedia-universe.com/board/pages.php?pageid=1&tabid=33

see if that may work. Others that have a tbs card may be able o give you some better tips, but since I dont have one I cant even try it out.

wish I could help you more rempfer. Let me know how HDMU does and if you get it going there.
I hope it works for you!!!

I need a little help. We have said goodbye to Directv and now I need my Azminime to be a dual tuner. I have an old TBS 5922SE laying around . But I dont know much about that card and which demod etc I need to load. The prof is still working like a charm on the azme as a second tuner(except for azteca mux on G 19). I listed above the files I would need for prof, but I have no idea which ones I'd need for 5922SE. Is i stv090x? or something else. Are there others that need to be there as well. I have the .FW file in place in lib/firmware.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

No 5922SE is different chips.  AFAIK demod is tas2101 module.  Tuner is av201x module.  USB is tbs5922se module.

Drivers available through https://github.com/ljalves/linux_media  and I thought UDL had them in his v4l tree, but I don't see tbs5922se in his tree.

No idea if anyone has any binary modules compiled for those receivers that you can just download.

thanks Bluzee!
I'm still lost here. What files do I need to put where? Is there another card of a different brand that has those that may be in the E2 build?

Thanks guys...not nearly as easy as prof was ...file wise.

I think it is in there as tbs qbox22.
I don't think you can compile that on an x86 machine and expect to be able
to run it in your stb though. Not that simple is it. Would have to be cross compiled for the cpu in the AzMe I am thinkin.

I see this in Kconfig udl's tree, I think you'd select
"TurboSight QBOX22 DVB-S2 USB2.0 support"
in menuconfig

from Kconfig in usb/dvb-usb
Code:
config DVB_USB_TBSQBOX22
        tristate "TurboSight QBOX22 DVB-S2 USB2.0 support"
        depends on DVB_USB
        select DVB_PLL if MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT
        select DVB_TAS2101 if MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT
        select MEDIA_TUNER_AV201X if MEDIA_SUBDRV_AUTOSELECT
        help
Say Y here to support the TurboSight QBOX22 DVB-S USB2.0 receivers
