Welcome to the forum oldcat.Instead of being parked on 1 sat have ya thought about motorizing the setup?.Pretty sure Rick still sells the Vbox. This way ur receiver can move the dish around instead of being locked on 1 bird.[smile]

Hello oldcat374 -

Congrats on the dish and welcome to the forum. C-band dishes of course are more work to set up due to their shear size, but they are much more forgiving when aiming them because of the longer wavelengths. You still want to peak them to get the maximum signal. I would start with G16; the LESEA mux at 4000H, 26400 SR is probably the easiest to tune.

Good luck.

A 7.5 footer can be a real gem. I think you'll fall in love with that dish. Tell us of any help you need as you get it set up.

Try 3804-5 vertical 4167 Pa Cable Network I think if you find vertical then you can tune for horizontal.

Hey,welcome to the forum!
Same bird i use, closest True South for me too.AMC-9 just a smidge left (east)of straight up.Getting that azimuth right is the first priority.Have to be aware most any metal objects,or other large objects will totally screw up compass readings.Have probs setting up new dishes on account of my other dishes...LOL !
Have to keep Re-calibrating phone compass.

I used a handheld GPS to get the azimuth of items in my back yard with respect to my dish. I go out back and save waypoints that I know are approximately south and then go to my dish and ask the GPS to tell me what direction each of the waypoints are.

So I end up with an answer for which object, tree, lawn chair is at 180degrees.

Works really good if you have a lot of room. I used to set up antennas on water towers for the VHF, UHF and ISM band the same way. I knew what azimuth it was back to the water plant and found a tree in the distance to "aim" for that had same azimuth/

You should have no troubles locking and holding a lock with the 2 signals in question in NC using a 7 1/2 footer granted it is outfitted properly and finely tuned.

not good. hooked  up my ASC1  and hooked my  Polarity Servo motor up and as soon as i flpped on the power no the ASC1 lost all quality i had to set both polarity at +20  and my  quality came back a little do i need to leave it on 45 default and tune my dish on ? . this is driving crazy.

its not necessary to use 45, but if you want to use 45 just leave it at 45 and go twist the feedhorn in the scalar until your quality is maxed.

edit: sorry i meant not necessary..wording has been changed.

Don't forget about dishpointer.com to show you exactly which trees, houses, phone poles, etc.  line up with which satellites. It shows you a google maps like satellite image with a superimposed line pointing in the direction of your satellite of choice from a drop-down list. I can zoom right in on my yard and drop the "X" target right on my BUD. Once I get to satellites away from my true south, this really helps.

It is just most important to share the find.
