I've been using DreamSet/DreamBoxEdit to save my channel list for quite some time now, so, for example, when I load a new firmware on one of the boot partitions I can restore the saved channels.

What never gets restored is the tuner's list of satellite configuration DiSEqC 1.2 positions, so I have to manually go in, satellite by satellite, and set the DiSEqC 1.2 position (1-99) for each bird (I don't use USALS).

Is there any way to also save/restore complete satellite details when I back up my channel list?  This would avoid the tedium of always having to reconfigure satellite positions.

Thanks.

It may work if you back up your settings to USB from the receiver.  When installing the new firmware have the USB drive attached to the receiver.  I think that will work but not 100% sure as it's been a long time since I did it that way.

openATV 5.3's included backup/restore utility is configurable WRT config files, settings files, driver files, picon files, bootlogo files and spinner files, in the backup settings menu. In the software management advanced menu, files to be backed up by default can be excluded, and those by default excluded from backup can be added. Plus, backup location can be specified. I keep backups of each backup on the internal HD in their own directory separate from the one the backup software creates, and copy the backup to my LAN as insurance against HD failure.

Success, thanks to you guys.  Many wasted hours over the years endlessly resetting DiSEqC 1.2 positions until you presented this quite obvious solution.  Much appreciated!

Fellow Members, your posts are welcome here! Do not worry about posting everything perfect. Different receivers and LNB's will give you different Frequencies and Symbol Rates. Some set top boxes, PCI cards and USB receivers, Do Not Require all of the same information that others may need. It is not Required to post everything that others may need to tune in a feed. It is just most important to share the find. We can always adjust the Frequency and Symbol Rates and try the various Modulations and FEC's on our own receivers until we get a lock and then give a polite reply with what works for your receiver, as that information might help others as well. We all appreciate the efforts and energy of the Posters!
